okay okay... I'll read it. I tried reading it in Italian, and it didn't grab me. I'll have to try in English.
@Fiona: I read it (Secret Garden) recently too... made me cry all over again. I think I've read it 50 times!

a happy cry, don't worry!!
more like a flash to my childhood (long long gone) and I cry over the silliest things

This week, I finished Sovereign, the third book in the series that started with Dissolution. It wasn't quite as good as the first two, but I still liked it.I also finishedDead Until Dark. Loved it!
Also Christopher Moore's Fool A Novel. It was just okay for me. I liked A Dirty Job a lot more.
And now I'm getting started on Lisey's Story. So far it's another solid book by SK!
New shop read: Stella Adler on Ibsen, Strindberg, and Chekhov - it is instantly engaging and written in snippets so I can easily pick up, put down as and when work demands.
I've started reading Garth Nix's Abhorsen after finishing Lirael yesterday...still debating which nonfiction book to read next though *stares at her shelf and ponders*
JG - I thought the Sansom books were terrific and for me the relative weakest link in the four was Dark Fire (#2). Revelation was sublime IMHO*sighs and smiles at the memory of it all*
Listening to "The Girl With No Shadow" by Joanne Harris which is the f/u to "Choclat" and reading "The Red Leather Diary" by Lily Koppel which I'm really enjoying.
I'm almost done with Dead and Gone. After this, I really need to get on my 'Currently Reading' list - almost all of them are books I put down back in December but still mean to finish.
I'm reading Everyone Worth Knowing by Lauren Weisberger right now. It's really good so far, but the plot is a very similar to The Devil Wears Prada...
I'm still working on Bridget Jones The Edge of Reason, but that should be done shortly. Have also started "They Have Killed Papa Dead!" The Road to Ford's Theater, Abraham Lincoln's Murder, and the Rage for Vengeance.
Mel, keep me posted on the Lincoln book. I just finished Team of Rivals and would like to read another book about Lincoln, just not an autobiographical one.
Sure thing, Sera. A coworker raved about this book and how well it was written and how emotional it was.
Anna wrote: "I'm reading Everyone Worth Knowing by Lauren Weisberger right now. It's really good so far, but the plot is a very similar to The Devil Wears Prada..."It is the PR version of Devil Wears Prada. Definite fluff read, but fun.
I have finished Flesh House - Stuart MacBride (Audio) & Dewey: The Small-Town Library Cat Who Touched the World - Vicki Myron. Will now read Bloodtest - Jonathan Kellerman or A Home for Rose - Jon Katz.
Fiona, I've checked out Dewey: The Small Town Library Cat from the library twice and both times had to return it unread. How was it?
Patricia - someone else on goodreads read and loved it (and cried a the end). I think if are an animal lover you will love it. I have to read it too!
I am reading Letters from Yellowstone for my epistolary novel. I am also reading the Chocolate War for school. Does anyone have an idea of where I could fit the Chocolate War into the challenge?
Morgan wrote: "I am reading Letters from Yellowstone for my epistolary novel. I am also reading the Chocolate War for school. Does anyone have an idea of where I could fit the Chocolate War into the challenge? "Have you done the get to know the author task?
I'm now reading Wondrous Strange and Royal Affairs A Lusty Romp Through the Extramarital Adventures That Rocked the British Monarchy. Just finished The Last Olympian last night.
Have you read "Queen Camilla", a hilarious book that has Charles and Camilla's love child from 1965 claiming the throne - great fun.
Lisa wrote: "Listening to "The Girl With No Shadow" by Joanne Harris which is the f/u to "Choclat" and reading "The Red Leather Diary" by Lily Koppel which I'm really enjoying."Is The Girl With No Shadow good? I loved Chocolat.
I'm reading Dream Date by Sinclair Smith, still trying to thin out the YA stack. I've also read Unexplained Michigan Mysteries, Mirror Mirror, and Night Terrors.
Reading the Jane Austin Book Club and not thrilled with it so far. Not what I thought it would be and kind of boring. Deciding whether or not to finish it.
Jenna, I thought the Jane Austen Book Club wasn't that great, but I definitely recommend the movie. It was one of those rare instances where I thought the movie was better than the book.

I'm not liking it quite a well as I liked "Chocolat" but I am really enjoying it. I'm almost wishing I were reading it rather than listening to it. Whoever wrote the screenplay for the movie "Chocolat" must have read this as well because there are some things here that weren't in the book "Chocolat" but were in the movie.
Patricia wrote: "Fiona, I've checked out Dewey: The Small Town Library Cat from the library twice and both times had to return it unread. How was it?"I absoultely loved it Patricia. I even had tears at the end (don't usually cry lol). But worth the recommendation this month for me.

Sounds right up my alley, John! The Queen and I is good too. The "Republican" party wins an election and the Royals go to live in council housing. Diana was still alive at the time it was written and makes an appearance. Very funny.

i am currently reading the immortal nickolas flammel series, the simarillian, one of circle of time books by robert jordan, and i have borrowed the second book in the allana quaret, the first book in the immortals serise [both by tamora peirce:] and dragon flight.
I finished Jodi Picoult's My Sister's Keeper last night and started James Patterson Maximum Ride: The Angel Experiment. Not sure what to expect from this Patterson book, but I've heard good things.
Just finished City of Thieves by David Beniov. What a gem. Gave it a 4, but 5s are rare for me. Probably more likely a 4.7.
Fiona, I will definately read it. My habit is to check out more books than I can possibly read when at the library.
Diane, sorry didn't see your reply. Yes, I love animal books, I have 4 dogs and a cat. My two recent favorites are Hannah's Dream and The Art of Racing In the Rain.
Finished The Grand Sophy by Georgette Heyer last night at midnight. I read all of her books like 20 years ago, so it's almost like reading them for the first time. I have a P.G. Wodehouse by my bed that I've been reading for a month now, and I also squeezed a Sophie Kinsella novel in yesterday. What can I say? I love the Brits.BTW, loved both Rebecca and The Secret Garden. I have never read "I Capture the Castle" but I'm going to do so.
Cait wrote: "Susanna wrote: "Started Will in the World How Shakespeare Became Shakespeare last night. Very interesting so far."Oh, please post an update when you finish? I have that on my TBR..."
It took me awhile too, Cait, but about halfway thru, it really picks up.
Hi Everyone, My name is Tess... I just joined this group. I recently finished reading The Dharma Bums by Jack Kerouac which I loved. I was simultaniously reading that while also reading The Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley. I'm really enjoying it but it will probably take me a while to finish!
Jess wrote: "Right now, I'm reading The Host."
I liked it better than Twilight. I hope she continues with the series.
I'm still working on The Book of Lost Things. I'm really enjoying it - its different from anything I've ever read. The chapter on Snow White was really funny! For those of you who read it, did you read all of the information on the fairy tales (after the story ended - I cheated and looked ahead!!!)? I guess that is important to the story itself.....
