The first sounds very heavy, the second very funny... would you recommend Italian shoes?

I so need to know if the quality is decent.. the collection of paperbacks is so cheap, if they are good I´ll buy the whole thing haha
About the People of the Book, tt´s interesting to read but it´s sad to stop in the middle of the idea... I read when I can, you know? Waiting in the phone, while the pc starts, in the bath, when my boss isn´t looking lol so the short chapter helps cause I´m always having to stop reading to do something :(
Way to go Titch! Are you counting only the books you read from cover to cover, or are you counting the ones you gave up on as well?
I just finished reading Flashforward. This book is not on the Lost Lit list, but it totally should be. It was really good. Interesting concept of scientists attempting to recreate the big bang situation, and when they hit the button to start the experiment, everyone in the world loses consciousness and jumps into their future selves..... then it proceeds to detail how those visions, or lack of, shape their thoughts and actions for the next twenty years....!
I am about to start The Master and Margarita.

Someone who lived where the characters live and in the same time lived there said that the characters are very realistic too.

I have Flashforward on my shelf at home, Lori! I think I heard about it in a 815-ers thread, so I had to order it since it was similiar to Lost. I'm gonna bump that one up in my TBR pile and read it next!
carol, i have the paperback of Dead Until Dark. my sister loaned them to me, they were loaned to her by one of her friends when she had her son in february. not a bad story, hard to pinpoint it to one book category though. kind of romance, kind of vampire, kind of mystery, kind of humor. fun read for sure.
I just started Gregory Maguire's Wicked & Son of a Witch - I was just going to buy Wicked, but the clerk sold me on this BEAUTIFUL leatherbound double edition. I'm about 50 pages in and love it so far! It's different than I expected.

For fans of the ABC show Lost.. there is a list of books that are linked to the show, whether by episode title or one of the cast is seen reading it... Its an awesome way to stay connected to the show and read novels that influenced it.

I just finished reading The Unvanquished by William Faulkner and am now reading The Black Cauldron by Lloyd Alexander (weird, I know.)
I have just started Lisey's Story. I almost gave up on it too, but now it seems to be picking up and I'm intrigued. I love the way King immerses himself into a character male or female and it is so authentic. He really is a masterful storyteller.

Then again, not so much, as I don't want this book to end!
And I'm waiting for the film until after the book, but since I am a big Keira fan, I'm really looking forward to the film.

Bettie - I've wanted to try Quincunx ever since I finished Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell! I finally got a copy, and it's patiently waiting...I'm looking forward to it!
I'm cheating! I've started my May read for another group...just because I have so much to read for May. It's Killing Fear . So far the story's okay, but I'm not liking the way the author writes. It's early though, so hopefully it gets better!
I finished "Flipping Out" by Marshall Karp and thoroughly enjoyed it. An easy and quick read that was very entertaining. I'm now on to Michael Robotham's "Shatter" -- read the first couple of chapters and am already hooked. I really love this author.
Kristen wrote: "I just started to reading Just Listen by Sarah Dessen and I really like it so far. "Just Listen is my favorite of Sarah Dessen's books so far. I hope you continue to like it.
I am about 1/3 through with Pride and Prejudice and Zombies The Classic Regency Romance - Now with Ultraviolent Zombie Mayhem!
Kathryn wrote: "I am about 1/3 through with Pride and Prejudice and Zombies The Classic Regency Romance - Now with Ultraviolent Zombie Mayhem!"Kathryn, I have been intrigued by this book for a while. How is it? Is it worth picking up?
Lori wrote: "Way to go Titch! Are you counting only the books you read from cover to cover, or are you counting the ones you gave up on as well?I just finished reading Flashforward. This book ..."
Just the books I read, not what I gave up on. I have also included the audios as I listen to them as well.
Catherine wrote: "Allison (11167), I've had Those Who Save Us on my shelf for a few years, so I'm glad to hear it was excellent!"Catherine, I'm with Allison. Those Who Save Us is a real winner.
Just started City of Thieves by David Benioff. For the first few pages I was like hmmm, am I going to like this. Then wham! I really like it.

Jeane wrote: "Has anybody read Watermelon by Maryan keyes? I feel so addicted to it!"YES! :) I loved Watermelon!! That was my first Marian Keyes book, and I totally loved it. I've read most of her books since then, and am reading Lucy Sullivan Is Getting Married right now. :)
I just started reading 1984. This looks like a great book and a change from just finishing, The Time Traveller's Wife by Niffenegger.

I finsihed it yesterday and was smilling in myself. It is really good. i don't remember the title but the other one I read from her was the one that another daughter goes to I think Las Vegas, I really liekd that one too but in some way I might even like this one a little bit more.
I am reading The Suspicions of Mr. Whicher Murder and the Undoing of a Great Victorian Detectivewhich I thought was a fiction but seems to be a non-fiction. Nothing has really happened in between but I seem to go through it pretty easy.started also with 20000 Leagues Under the Sea. For now it is nothing special but I am hoping it gets better like Around the World in Eighty Dayswhich I loved.

As long as you don't take offense about the fact that there are zombies in it then yeah, it is great... really funny.
Jeane,I don't know if the recommendations of a fourteen year old boy carry any weight with you; but when I was that age I read Twenty Thousand Leagues Under The Sea and loved it. I still think it is one of the books I most enjoyed reading.
Of course, I mean at the time I was reading it--I have no idea what I would feel about it now. Fourteen years old was a long time ago.

I could not put it down and was so wrapped up in the story...after I finished, I immediately bought the movie and was very pleased with the adaptation and the casting. Although the endings were slightly different, the outcome was the same. I would recommend Laura see the movie after reading the book - and would love to hear your thoughts after you finish the book!
Susanna wrote: "I started Stiff The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers, by Mary Roach, last night. Amusing so far."I keep seeing that at Border's. I want to buy it and read it, then give it to my brother as a gift for some occasion or another. He recently went back to school for criminal justice and hopes to move on to mortuary school. It seems like it would be perfect for him.
Leanna, it would be a perfect fit for your brother if the mortuary interests him. It's a fascinating read and - at the risk of sounding incredibly morbid - a fun read as well.
I just finished "Go Ask Alice" interesting read. But now I am reading "One Thousand White Women" for another book club.Anyone have any thoughts?
Just finished The Giver by Lois Lowry and I'm going to start Uglies by Scott Westerfeld tonight. My sister's birthday is coming up and I'm looking for a good series to gift her.
Ebostdorff wrote: "I just finished "Go Ask Alice" interesting read. But now I am reading "One Thousand White Women" for another book club.Anyone have any thoughts?"
I read One Thousand White Women a few years ago, and all I remember is that I did enjoy it.
I finished Bound South A Novel. It was pretty good. I thought it was going to be funnier than it was, but it did make me think about the issues we in the South (U.S.) sometimes have and how hard it can be to move past them. That sounds preachy, but the book wasn't. It just made me think as it entertained me.Now I'm reading Sovereign by C.J. Sansom. So far it's just as good as the others. I don't normally read series books this close together, but I need to return these to a co-worker.

My God, Fiona, I've read 20-30 books in the last five months; and I thought I was reading a lot.
You're doing better than good.
