What are you reading?
I just started the Legend of Colton H. Bryant, by Alexandra Fuller, who wrote Don't Let's Go to the Dogs Tonight. It's just beautiful. Her same writing style that takes no prisoners, but not as much of a wild romp--quiet and steady and I'm in love with the characters from page two. I'm loving it.
After trying two books and not getting into them - I finally started Independence Hall which is pretty good starting out.

It occurs in Yellowstone right?
I want to read Book Thief. I've heard so many wonderful things about it.Kellie wrote: "Just finished [b:Freakonomics Rev Ed A Rogue Economist Explores the Hidden Side of Everything|1202|Freakonomics Rev Ed A Rogue Economist Explores the Hidden Side of Everything|Steven D. Levitt|ht..."
I've just begun reading The Pact by Jodi Picoult. I really loved My Sisters Keeper I just hope this book is as good.
Kym wrote: "I've just begun reading The Pact by Jodi Picoult. I really loved My Sisters Keeper I just hope this book is as good."I am reading My Sister's Keep right now... I am only page 34 or something like that... I am liking it so far.
I put down True To Form by Elizabeth Berg because I wasn't in the mood for it (plus it's a library book and the books that I actually do own were all, but saying "read me, read me"). So, I picked up Lucky by Alice Sebold. It's a re-read for me and right now I need a re-read since I feel a reading slump coming on (too much going on with work, school, and guitar lessons), plus it was so awesome the first time I read it.
I had to stop reading The Woman In Black - Susan Hill because I am going to see Jodi Picoult on 2nd May and I haven't read anything by her since I saw her last year. So I am reading Plain Truth - Jodi Picoult
Had to give up on Revolutionary Road. It totally bored me, and while I think that was the point I didn't see that I had to carry it all the way through to the end.
LITSandTBRITL (life is too short and TBR is too long!!)
I am now reading a MONSTER - Sacred Games by Vikram Chandra. A million pages at least! Should keep me out of trouble for a while ; )

I finished The Hunger Games and it was excellent. One part did make me cry, but no spoilers. The author did a great job of making you feel like you were there with the characters.I have almost finished The Last American Man a non-fiction book by Elizabeth Gilbert about Eustice Conway. Can you say narcissist??? He is a complete and utter narcissist but the book was very interesting.
I am now reading a Spot of Bother by Mark Haddon. It is a bit dull but I can hang in there because I do feel sympathetic to the main characters.
After finishing The Suspicions of Mr. Whicher Or the Murder at Road Hill Houseand The Irresistible Inheritance Of Wilberforce A Novel in Four Vintages I have another two on the go at the moment: Italian Shoes and The Night Watch.I have hit a patch of good reading - long may it last!
:O)

Hello Kim - I was not that impressed with A Spot of Bother but it kept me company on a flight. I have The Hunger Games tapping it's fingers on Mt TBR.

I read Dracula, it´s good. The end it´s bleh, but the books is good heheI´m reading To Kill a Mockingbird and wondering why I didn´t do it earlier. I took it at the library 4 weeks ago and just renovated (sp?) till now. It´s so cute! And the historical side is very interesting to read.
I finished Breaking Dawn!! Yay! I have moved onto a much faster read in Plum Spooky by Janet Evanovich. I am also starting The Tipping Point by Malcolm Gladwell as a side read.
I finished re-reading Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility the other day so now I've started reading Tom Rob Smith's Child 44.
I recently finished My Horizontal Life by Chelsea Handler - I love it when a book makes me laugh out loud.I should finish Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince today. I'm also reading Pride and Prejudice and enjoying it very much. I've only seen the movie version with Keira Knightly, but I loved the guy who played Mr. Darcy and it's nice being able to picture him while reading the book.
I've made it a goal to at least read 20 pages a day of In the Shadow of the Dreamchild: A New Understanding of Lewis Carroll. So far it reads like a text book, but I'm hoping it will pick up once all of the introductory information is out of the way.
Rebbie wrote: "I want to read Book Thief. I've heard so many wonderful things about it."I just bought the Hardcover from Amazon for $6.78 and sent it to my mom so she can read it. I can't say enough great things about it.
Cait wrote: "I recently finished My Horizontal Life by Chelsea Handle..."Oh Cait, My Horizontal Life is one of my favorite funny reads, I read a story every few months over again just to get a good laugh :)
Have you read, "Are you there Vodka? It's Me Chelsea"? That is her 2nd set of stories, also very funny..
Justine, what part do you consider the "rough" part?
I really liked it. Wait till you get the to part with Snow White... its hilarious!

Hayes, this sounds good. Keep us informed (but I added it to my Wish List anyway).
I started the Outlander series a week ago! I am more than half way through Voyager, the 3rd book! These books are absolutely fabulous! I don't think I've ever read better books!
Kim wrote:"Have you read, "Are you there Vodka? It's Me Chelsea"? That is her 2nd set of stories, also very funny."I haven't read that one yet. I'm currently 25th on my library's hold list (and they have 11 copies), so hopefully soon!
Have just started Two Rivers. I'm not too far into it but so far I am liking the writing style and also the bigger font for my ever changing eyes. ;-)

That is my favorite part of the book. I was cracking up.
Kym wrote: "I've just begun reading The Pact by Jodi Picoult. I really loved My Sisters Keeper I just hope this book is as good."I liked The Pact more than My Sister's Keeper.
Jeane wrote: "It might look boring but for now it isn't: Plan B 2.0 Rescuing a Planet Under Stress and a Civilization in Trouble. It is a little less doom and gloom and has a lot of really interesting proposals on what can be done so we stop consuming so much. It's also made out of plastic instead of paper so that it can be recycled.
Fiona wrote: "What did u think of Plain Truth - Jodi Picoult?"Fiona - I liked that one quite a bit. Jodi Piccoult books are hit or miss for me, but that one's among my top three.
I am currently reading Sanctuary by Beverly and David Lewis and I'm actually really enjoying it. I've had a lot of time to read since it's OAT week and I finish the tests pretty early.
I'm currently readingBlood Diamonds
For school but its an excellent book!
A Treasury of Royal Scandals The Shocking True Stories History's Wickedest, Weirdest, Most Wanton Kings, Queens, Tsars, Popes, and Emperors
Purely for the fun of it!!
Queen Bees and Wannabes Helping Your Daughter Survive Cliques, Gossip, Boyfriends, and Other Realities of Adolescence
Because I have the pleasure of raising a pre-teen daughter!!!
Just finished Dreamers of the Day A Novel. It looks like I've read everything by Mary Doria Russell. What a shame. Now I'm reading Dandelion Wine by Ray Bradbury. It's been a very long time since I've read anything by him. But I've heard that this is good.
I am currently reading the 3rd part of The Millennium Trilogy by Stieg Larsson. Very addictive read...
Just finished Fearless Fourteen by Janet Evanovich. Funny, funny, funny. Did I tell you it was funny? Also finished Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet by Jamie Ford. This book was A MAZING!!!!! I give it a 5 and highly recommend it. Loved the historical aspect as well as the heart-wrenching story of young love that lasts a lifetime.
Mosca wrote: "Just finished Dreamers of the Day A Novel. It looks like I've rea..."I would love to hear what you think about Dandelion Wine, Mosca. I love Ray Bradbury, but I haven't read that one yet. And yes, I'm still reading The Sparrow. It's so good!
I'm re- reading Love Songs in Minor Keys which made its debut last night in Charlotte and is now on Amazon.com etc. I'd like to respectfully ask our members who know and respect me for the number and quality of comments I have made since joining, to briefly look at the review on my author page.(Cavano) Sure it's my new book and I wrote the review, BUT it ONLY discusses what is IN the book and what two VERY famous critics have written on the books jacket. We writer's have to sometimes advertise our books. If you care about Goodreads Authors please consider taking a minute or less.

I just started The Almost Moon by Alice Sebold via audiobook on my commute to work..and idk what it was but I couldn't listen to it..it disturbed me right off the bat and I didn't want to start my day off like that.
Jamie wrote: "I just started The Almost Moon by Alice Sebold via audiobook on my commute to work..and idk what it was but I couldn't listen to it..it disturbed me right off the bat and I didn't want to start my ..."Yeah - The Almost Moon was VERY distubring. I was nauseous through the whole first third or so. I know a lot of people gave up on it. I finished it, and honestly, you're not missing much if you decide to drop it. I do like the way Alice Sebold writes and I got more into it in the later parts of the book, but it was hard to stomach.
too many posts for me to catch up on....life has beens uper hectic lately, so i'm still on A Great and Terrible Beauty, hopefully i can finish it up before the weekend. i picked up Lush Life for my next read.
I'm about halfway through Don't Let's Go to the Dogs Tonight An African Childhood for my local book club, and it's making me feel quite depressed, suddenly. This book is exquisitely well written, but so bleak! Except for one good laugh, can anyone tell me if it picks up by the ending?
I finally read The Road and rather surprisingly enjoyed it, despite the hoopla surrounding it.And today I decided to take a break on the post-apocalyptic literature I have been reading and started The Golem by Gustav Meyrink.
I've been reading The Friday Night Knitting Club and just got bored with it. I scanned about the last third and found out what happened with the characters. I know some of you here that read it liked it but I just couldn't get through it. I'll look at my TBR shelf and see whats next.!
