The first time I read S&S I kept a character list, and that really helped. I also wrote a paper on the Ang Lee film adaptation around a month ago, so I would be willing to try and answer any questions that you have, just send me a message!

Now, I'm reading I Am Legend for the Spring Challenge.

How sweet Liz! Than you! Maybe I´ll send a message to you soon LOL
All the Dashwoods in the beginning was a little confusing, but now I think there are only the characters I expect to exist haha
But the chars list is an excellent idea!

Oh! I loved that book too! My mom is staying with her sister right now, who is going through chemo, and I was htinking of reading it again.

One of my all time favorites!!
Hope you enjoy it.

Glad to hear it! I wasn't really sure what to expect and I've only just started by so far, so good.

I am also listening to David Sedaris Me Talk Pretty One Day, which is my first audio book for the Spring Challenge. I am on disc two, but I must say I would much rather read than listen. I feel like I am missing so much because I am getting distracted while driving (and this task has to be completed while in some form of transportation). I will be relieved when it is over!! I will probably actually 'read' this book in the future.

Stephanie, I LOVED A Prayer For Owen Meany.

Hi Seth, I have missed you! Good luck with the gignormous read!

Hey Jon,
What did you think..I have this in hand and was going to start on it this weekend but got distracted with other reading.

I really enjoyed DaVinci Code when I read it - I thought he did an excellent job ending each chapter at a place that urged me to the next one - I ended up having to do my "stops" mid chapter. I didn't get into the whole "controversy" I took it just on the basis of a fiction read.

You have some fine book taste. Both of those books are amazing!

I loved the Hobbit and my husband always makes fun of me for it!

The Tempest is a wonderful play. I envy you, as I have never seen it performed. Paul Mazursky has a 1982 film with a 20th century retelling is worth watching. (Don't let the fact that Molly Ringwald is in it scare you away. She's actually very good in it.)
I haven't seen Derek Jarman's 1979 version, but I may track it down, since he has done some fascinating work. Has anyone seen it or the 2009 film?

And I've decided to try and shift gears. Now starting The Antelope Wife by Louise Erdrich. It's been a while since I've read any of her work. We'll see what happens.
p.s. I love The Tempest. Is the 1982 Mazursky film the one with John Cassavetes? That was a wonderful film.

Jamie, I love Ella Enchanted, and I have to warn you that the movie does not compare to the book.
Operandi, both good choices in my opinion.
Julianna, I'm seeing a Royal Shakespeare Company production and those can be dubious...I think this one is meant to be in kind of an African setting.
So I'm currently reading a lot of books right now--first I'm going to finish re-reading Frankenstein and then probably work on Great Expectations and Why Men Don't Listen and Women can't read maps. I think I'll have about 9 hours on trains this weekend...not fun.

Let us know how you like The Antelope's Wife. I read her The Master Butcher's Singing Club last year and loved it. Would like to know if her other novels are of that caliber.

That is one of my favourite books ever and I adore all his other books too. Read something else by the same author?

I really enjoyed the da vinci code too. Probably because I read it as a fiction book too. Though I did go and look up things on the internet but out of curiosity.

Lizz, have you read anything else by the author of Sophie's world? It is one of my favourite books ever but I really enjoyed his other books too. I am always wondering how he manage to come up with those stories...they aren't the more usual kind of fiction stories. It is just so different and I ahven't read any book of an other author who writes stories like him.

really try it. It is lovely. I adored Maya and..... solitaire mystery too. His others where good too, give a look at mys helves. But those three I really liked a lot oh the second I read was very good too....uhm don't remember which one it was. But everytime I read one of his books I adore it.

Elizabeth The Antelope Wife is the fourth Louise Erdrich book for me. About 10 years ago or so I read Love Medicine, The Beet Queen, and Tracks. Her work is excellent. All three books were riveting and emotionally powerful.
So far, The Antelope Wife is also powerful. She puts her characters through a lot.

Now, I'm about to pick up Goodnight Nobody by Jennifer Weiner. I'm looking forward to reading this since I've liked all of her books so far with exception of one (Certain Girls).

i didn't get far (lunch is never long enough), maybe 6 pages or so, but it seems good so far.

I liked Goodnight Nobody, i think that may have been my favorite, after In Her Shoes. i agree with you on Certain Girls, i think she ruined the character for me with that one. it just wasn't as good as Good In Bed...
