I started A Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich. Its a shortie and hopefully I finish it today. My husband had to read it in school and said he hated it, but so far... I am enjoying it (well, as much as you can enjoy a book about men in a soviet work camp!)

The Knife of Never Letting Go is taking me longer than usual to read. For some reason I want to savor it as long as I can.

A little bit yes but in a nice way and an okay way.

I read the Nick Hornby book and didn't really like it, besides the middle part. His style is not for me and he writes in a too London, 21 century kind of way for me.

I wouldn't usually read a book like this but my friend spoke very highly of it and it was in the bargain section so I bought it. I just started it yesterday so I'm not sure how I feel about it yet.

I've 3 line ups:
Accidentally Dead - Dakota Cassidy
Fly Me to the Moon - Alysin Noel
Book Thief - Markus Zusak

Right now I'm reading Dead Until Dark, the first of the Sookie Stackhouse books. It's moving at a quick pace, so I like it so far.

Now I am onto The Book of Lies by Brad Meltzer.

Have also been reading Tuf Voyaging by George R. R. Martin, which is either really funny or really annoying--I can't make up my mind.

Has anybody read anything by her?
I've read almost all of her books. Depending on what you like they split into three groups. 1) her light regency romances; 2) other historicals; and 3) modern (1920/30s) mysteries. I found the mysteries the least satisfying, but they weren't bad. The others are my favorites, though, and I find myself rereading them -- almost like comfort food.

Why is that Catherine?

not bad, fluff reading, and it had more name and product dropping than any other book (including Lauren Weisberg books) but an easy and enjoyable one.
i'm starting Girls in Trucks tomorrow. i promised to write a review on it for the library in the town i grew up in so hopefully i enjoy the book!

Started 100 years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. Wohoo...not.

After making myself read the whole thing-I decided to go with One for the Money by Janet Evanovich for a nice quick read.

My book club is reading "While My Sister Sleeps" this month and I won an autographed copy!

How was it - I have this on my near term reading list.

Great book - I recently read it because of this group's insistence in making my TBR longer than Santa's list.

I'm not expert - only read Good Omens (liked) and Stardust (was "alright") but from what I've heard about Gaiman is he is very varied.

Coraline was an extremely quick read that wasn't disturbing as an adult, but I could see being creepy (although not really scary) as a child. It wasn't necessarily GREAT writing, but I thought it was well-written, which I can't say about a lot of YA that I've seen.
American Gods seems great so far, but I'm only about 70 pages in. I love mythology though so I think I'll enjoy it.

For those speaking of Hornby's "A Long Way Down", I would recommend the audio to anyone interesting in the story. It has three different voice talents, and is like an audio play. Absolutely wonderful! I didn't love the story, but I really enjoyed listening to their voice performances.

Ann: I tried reading The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and just couldn't make a go of it. I hope it gets better for you.

Allison, A couple of my friends have been pushing Evanovich as a quick/funny read. They also advised I begin with the first one. Thought it was cute and amusing at times. Hope you enjoy it.

Nikki, I agree with you on Middlesex. Read it for a book club and was glad they selected it. I really liked the historical aspects of the development of the areas around Detroit.

Picked up last night "Matrimony."

I really want to read BOOK THIEF. Glad to hear you liked it.

I'm glad to know this. I've been thinking I should read this book, but everytime I look at it I think, um, maybe not. So now I will. Thanks!

So glad you liked this - are you going to read 1000 Splended Suns? Of the two I think it is just a wee bit better.

Thanks Rebbie - at the time I wrote that I was 1/2 way through and finished it up earlier this month - it was a really good book that I would not have read texcept for TNBBC - Just one of the reasons I love being here ;-)

That's how I got to read it otherwise i don't think I would have picke dit up. But an ex-housemate told me it was very good and told me I could borrow her book.....it took me so long and didn't really enjoy it.

That's okay. I think my love for ehr books grew while reading her books. can't remember how I felt when I read her first book.....it must have been like more than ten years ago...was still at school then.
