I also like his novels with a man & woman detective, the woman's name is Angela Gennaro. I think I've read the first couple of that series. I believe A Drink Before the War is the first. They are very good also.
If you do read any more of his, I'd love to get your thoughts.

will start The Girls from Lori Lansens sometime tonight or tomorrow.

How did you like Love in the Time of Cholera? Have it on my TBR list!
"
I thought it was ok. It was really beautifully written but in the same vein, it really dragged at times.

Jessica, I can't get over how I just happened to see this one in Target and ..."
I borrowed it from my roommate who had also found it at Target. It was a pleasant surprise for both of us that she stumbled upon it.

Allison, really try to read a book by Nicholas Evans. All the people I convinced to read them, now love them. I even managed to convince a lady on the bus to work to read The loop and she will read it this weekend. Better start with The loop or The horse whisperer I think.

How was it jessica?

This is still one of my favorite reads. Ayn Rand can get pretty "soap boxy" and her relationship with men is...well unusual to say the least. But her story and characters are fantastic and I loved this book.

Currently reading Breakneck by Erica Spindler (one of my favorite authors!) This is her newest release. Only about 30 pages in, but intrigued.

If you're looking for a hard-boiled police procedural, with a plucky female detective with a great, sarcastic sense of humor, pick this one up. It's the first of the series.

My only question is why have I waited for so long. The book is a joy so far.

Who is the author of Smewhere in Africa? Im curious, sounds like an interesting read....
tx,

Really enjoyed Witches Trinity, thought the author did a fine job in executing time and place with her use of language.

Glad to hear that u liked it. I am lookin forward to readin it now xx

I've just finished Keeping the Moon by Sarah Dessen and I thought it was a cute easy read. I forgot how much I liked her books seeing as I haven't read one in about three years.
Now, I'm reading Postmortem by Patricia Cornwell. I decided to get started on the series since I own like six of the Scarpetta books already.

Susan, i've seen this book at target and i almost bought it. You'll have to let us know how it is.

JuliAnna, do you mean that his books (Neal Stephenson) are different from other authors; or, do you mean that his books are different from one another?

"Keeping the Moon" is actually one of her less angsty books (which is why I loved it). "Just Listen" and "Dreamland" were a bit more dramatic, but great nonetheless (especially Just Listen). I do hope that you enjoy the rest of her books as much as I did.

Angela/Laura: Have only read the two Lehane books mentioned but thought both were winners. I haven't had a chance to look at any of the others simply because my TBR list keeps growing ahead of my ability to get the reading done.

Jessica, I can't get over how I just happened to see this one in..."
Between The Secret Life of Cee Cee Wilkes and Three Weeks to Say Goodbye by C.J. Box, this has been a banner week for great reads.

Susan, How do you like it? I found it a great read and lent it to a friend who also loved it and she and I are usually differ greatly on books.

Liesl, What did you think of People of the Book?

I meant that they are pretty different from each other. Sorry, that was so unclear.

This is going to be a very odd experience. I last read a "new" Maida book in about 1974!

The only copy I could find though has the stupid movie cover. i just try to ignore it.
I'm just finishing up The Story of a Marriage A Novel by Andrew Sean Greer. Tomorrow I leave on holiday for a week, and I find that deciding what books to take with me is proving more difficult than what clothes to bring...
There is nothing I like more than browsing through a bookstore at an airport - a combination of excitement because I'm going somewhere and the thrill of having LOTS of time to read.

Linda,
So far I really like "Sarah's Key", it's very intense. I like reading the chapters about Sarah better, hate when the chapter ends and it goes back to Julia. It's going to be a book you look back on for a long time.

Alisha, how is Cornwell going? Whish I would be reading any of her books now.

I remember reading about this then forgot about it. Thanks for the post. I'll get it.
