My name is Alisha, but I saw that there is another Alisha here with the same spelling so I though to make it easier that I could go by Alisha Anne?
I am lost on what you all are talking about but I hope I dont stay that way for long!
Since this topic is about what you are currently reading I though that Id post what I am currently reading. Right now I am reading the Anita Blake Vampire Hunter novels by Laurell K Hamilton. I am on book 6 of the series The Killing Dance.
I just really love Hamiltons books but I must admit I have not read her Merry Gentry series yet.

I didnt want to stop reading to go to bed!
I must be a minority, but I really like Alice Sebold and have read all her books. I just feel like she is very authentic and unique but I understand why some people don't enjoy her books because she can be a bit daunting.
Thanks Jeane! I have some James Patterson books at home too, but just haven't gotten to them yet either. I've only read one so-called mystery, but it was kind of a frilly, English-cozy kinda book. It was called Withering Heights by Dorothy Cannell. It's part of a series, which I didn't know at the time. I can't find the rest of series at my library though. So anyway, I will let you know what I think of it. As for Alice Sebold, I read The Lovely Bones and I think I plan on stopping at that one. I liked the book until the last couple of chapters where it got all weird. I think that is one book that I put on the "Most Frustrating Novels" thread.
Fiona wrote: "Hope that never sounded harsh Jeane xx"Fiona, it doesn't sound harsh. It is all about liking what you read and for me it is great when we like same books and when we don't like same books. It's like with friends for me. I want us to have things in common but also have things not in common..that way they intriduce me to new things, ideas, thoughts...they stay interesting ebcasue we aren't completely the same. Don't need a copy of myself. I like it when I can answer spontaneous on something and the other person doesn't take it wrong but just keeps talking about it with me. Like we did. I personally find her book really a waist of tie and don't want to read naything written by her. But i am happy that she wrotes a book that makes somebody like it. She is an author that I don't care trying to find out why people often seem to like a lot what she writes. But then with Moby Dick i do have that. For now i completely don't understand why people love it adn think it is a classic so good.....but I am curiosu to see if I find something that will amke me understand why maybe people think this.
But do keep enjoying ehr books Fiona!!!! :-))))
And thanks for not taking wrong that I say what I think...you can keep doing that with me too:-)))

It is also a bit busy this moment.
Jackie wrote: "Thanks Jeane! I have some James Patterson books at home too, but just haven't gotten to them yet either. I've only read one so-called mystery, but it was kind of a frilly, English-cozy kinda book. ..."jackie, going to check on the Withering Heights book. never heard of it.
I love Patricia Crnwell books and like Minette walters, Henning Mankell, Clive Cussler, ...... never read any James Patterson, but one day i want to see how they are.
nope...... wait going to check it...sounds good, checked one of her books..beautiful lies. Did you read that summary?
If Ridley Jones had slept ten minutes later or had taken the subway instead of waiting for a cab, she would still be living the beautiful lie she used to call her life. She would still be the privileged daughter of a doting father and a loving mother. Her life would still be perfect—with only the tiny cracks of an angry junkie for a brother and a charming drunk with shady underworld connections for an uncle to mar the otherwise flawless whole.
But that’s not what happened. Instead, those inconsequential decisions lead her to perform a good deed that puts her in the right place at the right time to unleash a chain of events that brings a mysterious package to her door—a package which informs her that her entire world is a lie.
Suddenly forced to question everything she knows about herself and her family, Ridley wanders into dark territory she never knew existed, where everyone in her life seems like a stranger. She has no idea who’s on her side and who has something to hide—even, and maybe especially, her new lover, Jake, who appears to have secrets of his own.
Sounds good, doesn't it????
Yes, I think I wrote it Jeane. I read it already and I really wanna read her others. If I never wrote the summary, then I know I read lol.
I can't believe it but it is December, but I am still reading Along Came A Spider by James Patterson. Not that it isn't interesting, but I am so busy. I did read Dead to the World though last week.
Fiona wrote: "Alisha Anne, we are talking about Alice Sebold books lol.WELCOME to the site as well xx"
Oh ok lol
I havent heard of her but I will check her out!
I finished Robinson Crusoe, finally. I'm starting The Music Lesson by Katharine Weber. We will see how that goes, I'm not sure.
Hi, I'm Terilynn and new here. My daughter told me about this site and I'm obsessed already. I've always been an avid reader. I'm currently reading Thirteenth Tale and LOVE IT.
Terilynn, what a great way to come to this group! I adore hearing that daughters or sons recommend this group to their parents!!!!!!!
Fiona-It is pretty good. I really enjoyed the Women's murder club series and this kind of reminds me of those in a way. I would reccomend it only being half way through.
Ashley, I have read all of his Alex Cross series up to Cross County (his latest book) and his Women's Murder Club up to 8th Confession (his latest that is out nxt year).Glad your loving the series so far xx
I'll be reading the fourth of the Women's Murder Club books - as soon as I get through my stack of Christmas books. I have seven of them checked out from the library - they're fun little reads this time of year!
Kim & Terilynne - I'm sure you will both just love The 13th Tale. I cnt recommend it enough. Happy reading!
For you folks reading the new Wally Lamb book, let me know how it goes. I am very interested in getting my hands on that one. He has written anything in a very long time. Also, Fiona and Paula, unfortunately, I didn't enjoy AGATB either. I was surprised because it's something that I would usually enjoy, but it just didn't grab me. However, I did finish it :)
Hi!! I'm new to this group.. what am I reading right now? I'm reading a philosophy essay About Pain of Enrique Ocaña... and one called The Century of Artist's Books by Johanna Drucker... oh and I am reading from Laura Joh Rowland The black loto, from the series about Sano Ichiro a detective-samurai on the time of the Tokugawa shogunate...
Hiya Ti! I'm completely new to GR too...very nice to meet you! So many reads lately, I can hardly keep up.
Hello and welcome to all you newbies!!! You will love this site and pick up some great books!!!I am loving Koontz's new book YOUR HEART BELONGS TO ME. Of course!
Just finished A Christmas Carol, very quick read, and am now onto another Christmas book. The Stupidest Angel by Christopher Moore.
Kim wrote: "I just finished East of Eden and just loved it. Does anyone feel like Kathy may have been a sexual abuse survivor? Steinbeck was brilliant with his character development.
Kim
I liked this too! Kathy was that cold and evil, she just might have.
What else are you reading? Seems like we are hitting on the same books lately.
I'm going to start
The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society
Hey Jessica & Lori- The Stupidest Angel was my first Moore novel too! I've since become a huge fan. Kindred spirits! *sigh*
I tend to agree with Fiona and others about Sebold.I read "The Lovely Bones" when it first came out to see what all the hype was about. Didn't like it at all.
Then this year, I thought I would give Almost Moon a try.
The idea, I thought, was extremely risky. Writing about killing your mother. I thought the writing was OK but the thought of the whole thing just made me uneasy.
Not sure if I'm going to read Lucky. I might just to read about this woman's life. To me, she has a dark side that comes thru her writing. She must be using it as her therapy for all she has been through.
Kellie,
I'm starting the 13th Tale and Revolutionary Road. Revolutionary Road is a bit uncomfortable to read because the main characters have such a toxic relationship. It's a book club book so I'll plow through it.
I want to read the Dewey book soon and my book club is reading the potato peel book in March. I may read it earlier because I have heard such great things.
Ann from S.C. wrote: "Hello and welcome to all you newbies!!! You will love this site and pick up some great books!!!I am loving Koontz's new book YOUR HEART BELONGS TO ME. Of course!"
Ann - I read Koontz's latest in 2 days. Loved it. I actually think this is better than his last Oddster. Don't get me wrong I love the Odd Thomas books, but some seem a tad better than the others.
I'm a newbie, as well. I just finished A Breath of Snow and Ashes and started the second Amelia Peabody mystery, The Curse of the Pharohs.
Going to start a Young adult book The Long WeekendDoes anyone knows why I can't find the author when I try to use add book/author? The book also comes uo as one of the last on the last page....
Fiona wrote: "I am reading 4 books in total:The Greek Key - Colin Forbes
Lucky - Alice Sebold
When the Bough Breaks - Jonathan Kellerman
In Their Footsteps - Tess Gerritsen

I love Kellerman! I hope you enjoy it! :)
I accidentally ran across his work and I think he's kind of sort of actually a genius. He writes great fiction and non-fiction. Being that I'm a psychology major, I get a little picky about books being accurate in terms of disorders and stuff. Kellerman is definitely one of the best that I've found. Let me know how you like it when you finish!
