I also picked up A CHRISTMAS CAROL. Yes, its for the 12 books of Christmas challenge, but also for the winter challenge on TNBBC. It's a very good read so far. I am about 1/2 way through.

I just found out that DEAD UNTIL DARK is a show on HBO called First Cut. How did I miss this? My friend says it is great.

I love the Dexter series, but have not read the books. I did not even realize that there were books about Dexter, or a show made from the books... I love Dexter!

Right now I am listening to A Christmas Carol on audiobook, reading Nick and Norah's Infinite playlist and I have the last 100 pages of Extremely loud and incredibly close to go. I still have American Gods from the library, but I am not sure if thats my next to start or not.

I'm currently listening to Ashes to Ashes by Tami Hoag. A GR friend rated it 4 stars, so I thought I'd read it, as i've never read anything by Hoag. I'm about halfway through and it's OK.

The 12 Books of Christmas is a challenge on another group where you have to read books that spell out C-H-R-I-S-T-M-A-S D-A-Y in that order. You can read anything you want except for the fact that the first book had to be A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens... which is why I was wondering how many of the people saying that they were reading that, were reading it for the 12 Books of Christmas Challenge or because it is this groups book of the month, or because they just wanted to.

Hello everyone, I just finished Eragon.A story about a boy and his dragon, coming of age and all through the story he goes through losses and lessons learned. It's a nice story but just too wordy. It took me a long time to finish it.

I'm currently-readind P.S. I love you by Cecelia Ahern, and I'm loving it. I have seen the movie and like it very much, so I started the book and it's even better. It's easy to read and really funny.

I finally finished The Kitchen God's Wife - it was really good I just didn't seem to have the time to read it.

Next I'm on to The Good Thief's Guide to Paris by Chris Ewan - I really liked the first book in this series - hope this will be just as good.

Joseph ~ I found out about Bourdain's book on No Reservations. I love him! I absolutely love his attitude and his complete honesty. I am about 100 pages into the book and it is just reaffirming how much I adore this man! Although...I will now never buy the fish special on Mondays...

I am reading Living Dead in Dallas - the second Sookie Stackhouse book. I didnt really love the first one so I am hoping the series gets better for me. Its still a fun, quick read and I enjoy them.

I am sure this question is old. However I am asking anyway because thats what this dicussion group is for.
I have read Harry Potter. I have read Twilight. I want to keep it going with the whole Vampire, mythical creature, love triangle theme. I am tired of the modern everyday love story with cheaters, and twisted tails. I love romance though. So I like the sudden twist of books like twilight. So if anyone can recomend another vampire love story or werewolf love story or heck I will even take the witches and wizards if I have to. I know Nora Roberts did a wonderful trilogy I just cant remember the name of the series. However I have already read that. Please help me find another.

It is very hard for me to read a book when I have saw the movie (or many of the adaptations of it) that is why I can't read A Christmas Carol. I know that it is probably 10x's better but I just can't bring myself to do it.

I am dragging my butt through the Twilight Series and I am currently on Eclipse right now. I am rushing through it so I can get to Dead Dog and City of Ember because I need some fluff!

I just picked up Jonathan Lethem's You Don't Love Me Yet to read on the train because I'm just about finished with A Wrinkle in Time. Haven't heard great reviews about the Lethem, but it looks interesting.

Jaime, I just finished it. I liked the way the books flipped between the two characters and I really felt like it went in depth with both of them. I love music myself, so it was great reading a book with music as integral as it was. Have you read it?

Catherine, I feel this need to go back and read a Wrinkle in Time. It was summer reading for some of the kids when I was in 6th grade and I remember being jealous because I would have rather read that book. I am thinking of checking it out of the library the next time I go. Now that its about 15 years after I should have read the book.

I'm going back and forth between Atwood's Blind Assassin and Victoria Holt's The Secret Woman.

both are intriguing. I just got The Book Thief so I can't wait to finish both these to get started!

I am reading The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini. I'm having some trouble getting into this book, and I am find the narrator, Amir, a bit annoying. I realize that he's not suppose to really come across all that great because that's the purpose of the book. I am going to finish it and hope that it gets better. There are plenty of books that I had a hard time getting into but loved by the time I finally got to the end.

Authors love readers who stick it out to the end.One of the toughest things for a writer to learn ,is not to go for the home run too quickly.Sometime the process of getting there is more important than arriving. Best.

I just finished Odd Hours today and really enjoyed it. Odd Thomas is one of my new favorite characters. For those of you who have read this series...would you classify it as horror or mystery? I ask because at bookstores it's located in the horror section, but sometimes I think it's more mystery with some supernatural elements. Just curious!

Vicki, A Wrinkle in Time was extremely quick and I think worth the hour or so it really took to read. I agree though, all my friends read it when we were young.
