Bigal-sa | 19 comments Newbie question maybe?

I'm looking to add a cover image to this book http://www.goodreads.com/book/edit/12..., which has this existing image as a cover: http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1171...

I can find no obvious way to use this image and it seems a waste of space to have to re-upload it???

Thanks, but how did you do it? I've got another one!

Brandon | 13 comments Basically, you have to save a copy of the image to your computer. (I just put it on my desktop to make it easily accessible.) If there is already a cover provided, you have to delete the incorrect one by clicking "delete photo". Then, you will see "Add a cover image for this book." where the image of the cover used to be. Click in the text box (or "Browse..."), and it'll open your file directory. Select the proper file, click "upload file", and voila!

Hope that helps!

Thanks. So uploading the image multiple times for different versions of the same book is the only way to do this?

Sandra | 31511 comments I hope you didn't just change the cover of the book because you had a new cover.

If you had a new cover it needs to be added as an alternate cover edition.

And definitely don't change all the other versions unless you know that they should be.

No. It was an edition with no cover - Kim, above, has already changed it...

PS: No, forget the ps...

Please be very, very careful about doing this. Only when the cover is DEFINITELY wrong should it be deleted. Otherwise, as Sandra notes, an alternate-cover edition should be added.

As far as different editions having the same cover, there are frequently small differences, so please be careful when just copying from one edition to another.

Bigal-sa | 19 comments I suppose an advantage of uploading a cover image for each book would be that if someone deletes a cover image, it's not deleted for all the editions that use it.

Quintis (cuevee) | 4 comments *Noob warning*

I added an alternate cover Beautiful Visualization Looking at Data through the Eyes of Experts (Theory In Practice, #39) by Julia Steele edition for Beautiful Visualization Looking at Data through the Eyes of Experts (Theory In Practice, #39) by Julia Steele and combined an existing ebook edition with a previously misspelled author first name.

Long story short, having looked around on the official site, amazon, B&N, etc., etc., I cannot find a copy with the existing cover. My question is this: do I keep the alternate cover edition in place, or do I update the image for the original edition?

Keep the alternate cover edition in place, unless you are sure the other cover is WRONG (not just an old version no site is bothering to show).
