Should this woman get in trouble for enrolling her child in school with her friend's address?

Wow. We did that when I was in HS. The school I was assigned to as a freshman was brand spanking new and NYC was in the midst of massive busing in blacks from the ghettos. Nothing wrong with that in the ideal but this was during the race riots time which instantly engulfed the school within the first week. I remember my hair being pulled. Anyway, my parents yanked me out and send to me to much better HS. Problem was this was in a much better neighborhood and I always felt like the poor girl.
I've seen a ton of ads on Craigslist for parents looking to pay homeowners to say that they live at their address.

I thought they took the adult services ads off after the Craig's List Killer used them to target his victims.Anyway, this is an extreme incident of the punishment not fitting the crime. We have child abusers/pedophiles getting nominal sentences and then we have this :(

No. I run into them from time to time when I'm looking for a roommate.
We did talk about this in another thread - there was an Ohio woman, I think, who wasn't homeless but gave a false address for her kids. She was given a short jail sentence, if memory serves.
Yeah, this is absurd. Piling on. The woman is HOMELESS. Our public school system is so deeply unjust and unfair.

At the risk of sounding like an Oppressor of the People, I will remind you all that the Ohio woman didn't just use a fake address to send her kids to a better school, she lied to get extra money from various social programs and to get discounts on her subsidized rent. I'm not going to make any judgments on this case until all the facts are in.

What do you think? How should districts handle these scenarios?
