Jaye i'm not sure if this is against the rules, but i'm posting this here in the hopes that any booksellers/readers will see it.
i've asked on abe or alibris, i forget which, several years ago and got no answer.
i also posted it on the what's the name of that book group here - also no answer.

so here it is for your consideration:
I am looking for a not very long novel that takes place in a city in England. The home/property owner (with his handyman) decide that they will not allow the violence of the world on the property and post signs around the property stating their intentions. Example: 1.)if bombs are dropped on the city, none are allowed to fall on their property. 2.) if there is an invasion of the city it is not to happen on their property.
They take measures to allow for their "independence" from any violence that might go on around them.
They intend to be an "island", immune from any world violence.
Obviously, this is a tongue-in-cheek story/comment on the state of the world.
It is not a new book. I read it over 10 years ago and it may have not been new then.
Help !
thank you.

Sam~~ we cannot see the moon, and yet the waves still rise~~ | 110 comments Hey Jaye! I'm not sure if you're still active on goodreads since you posted so long ago, but there's actually a group specifically for this. Why don't you ask there?

Jaye I completely forgot about this book again.
I'll start the search anew.
