Why must the directors change a movie from the book, to make the movie just seem dumb?

That was a very cool part they pretty much messed that all up though. :-(

omg yeah, like the whole luke thing. they totally changed it all up! It would've been way more interesting if they actually made it like the book. That way we would be waiting for a second...
I totally agree...and weren't the cabins all in a u shape with the three top gods in the back center??? saw the movie and was like what happen to the camp! That is not what it is suppose to look like!!!
The cabins wern't even close together. Percy's was like by the water (duh) and everybody else's was scattered around the camp... CAN THEY READ?

i had the boks in order and they came a week after i saw the movie but wen i red them i was like wow the movie was way off and did u no the girl tat plays annabeth was 5 years older than logan lerman aka actor of percy jackson!!!!! but you hav to admit the movie was good if you didnt read the books but i loved the character especially grover hes how i tink i would hav imagined grover if i red the boks 1rst stil loved logan lerman though i hated annabeths character cuz she was nothing like real annabeth can wait for the son of neptune in the fall =D
i thought they were the some except for like their personal decorations. seaweed and other stuff.. just the shape was the same. in the movie they were like their own personal houses. :)
I do have to admit that if I had not read the books before I saw the movie, would have liked it, but did read the books and like ou said they are way different. What is Son of Neptune about?

I know!!! The movie wasn't horrible, but it didn't follow the book all the way through. That is what bothered me the most. And I was really excited to see the Oracle. I mean, that was one of my favorite parts!

I was really upset and disappointed after watching the movie..a lot of important details were left out and the order of the events were kind of really different form the book :\
I didn't watch the movie. I didn't want to and I didn't have to. The comments my friends made about it convinced me that I shouldn'tcat watch it. I heard that they left out so much stuff.Well, that's what to expect, I guess.
You can watch it if you want. Just for the experience. But yeah. It didn't follow through with the story.
I would watch it just to see how bad they did the movie, like to just truely see for yourself, but yes it was an awful book.
I was actually in the bathroom for the entire capture the flag scene. I was drinking coke, and I couldn't hold it any longer. When I got back, I asked my friend what I'd missed and she told me. I was so disappointed, even if the movie wasn't all that good.
I actually saw the movie first which made me start reading the books. By the time i finished the lightning thief i was highly disappointed...with the movie. I couldn't believe how much they had changed it... he's not even the same age! If tjey were to create a sequel of movies they would be so far off from the books it would be pointless. How is the great prophecy supposed to be carried out when hes 16...which he turns in the last book... if hes about that age in the first movie?

I liked both the movie and the book but in most cases thats not true.

i agree but 1 question am i the only one who finds it creepy tat the girl who plays annabeth is 5 years [!!!] older than than logan lerman who plays percy jackson cuz in the last bok they like kissed and i would find tat realy creep if they did make a sequel & tat happend really am i the only one?!?!
I think that someone read the back of the book and then decided to make a movie about it.

They could have left out all the stuff about finding the pearls, and made some of the real things happen! But I guess you just need to enjoy them both for what they are. I totally agree with Lauren.

Thank you Cheyenne! I saw the movie first, and thought the characters were great, and the plot was FANTASTIC! Then I read the book and thought "What's wrong with movie producers?!" Oh well. The movie is good if you didn't read the book.
Well, the movie is still really good. I mean compared to most movie/books.
I hate that they changed the story. I was so excited about the movie and had read the books. But jeez! The books were sarcastic and funny and entertaining. The movies were... boring. I mean, you know. The high point in the movie was Logan Lerman. The movie was not funny and I feel like the story would have been better if they were a BIT younger. They didn't have to be 12, but they could have been 14 or 15. Not READY TO GO TO COLLEGE?
I know!! I guess they thought they couldn't do any younger than that. I think they thought it would be boring... But it still is!!

yeah i tink its very rare to find a movie tat was a bok and is a lot like it if we'r lucky the only one i no is because of winn-dixie i tink there was lik 1 or 2 tings different [i was lil wen i red and saw the movies] =D
Yeah, I totally agree. Like for example: Harry Potter! They are really good about staying pretty close to what's in the book.
There were so many plot holes in the movie. Everything that happened just seemed to "easy" like at the end, Luke said he wanted to give the bolt to Hades to start a war, and gave it to Percy to bring to him anyways because he was going to the underworld to save his mother, who was stolen because Hades thought Percy had the bolt. None of the movie made sense at all. It would have been good if they kept the plot line by leaving in Ares and the Helkm of darkness. They could have at least pulled off a good film by keeping those two things in. They should not have changed the plot like they did because what they had made NO sense at all.
