LOL, Barbara! I've noticed that, too. About the vampires. My book is apparently of no interest to teens because there are no vampires and no snogging. Just humor.

I do have a vampire novel, but it's more of a suburban satire. Vampire moves her family into a gated community to protect them from vampire hunters, discovers that the Homeowners' Association is much more difficult to deal with.I used to work in continuing healthcare education, but quit my job two months ago and moved to Florida to help care for my father. My writing has been on hiatus, but not my reviews - which are mostly of mystery and thriller novels.
Hello! My name is Ashley and am a new "indie" author. I just published my first indie book, Death Seraph and am looking to get the word out. Nascent Illusion - I thought I would introduce myself, as well as my first book, 'Nascent Illusion' on this page.I'm Nathan Hassall and am the author of the darkly satirical, and deeply thought provoking prose and poetry. I recently got three Goodreads reviews for it, and they all gave a fantastic five stars!
Anyway, I was looking to see if any other poetry writers wanted to do a trade off with books, where reviews could be traded?
There are more reviews on the Amazon page- check them out! http://www.amazon.co.uk/Nascent-Illus...
If you want to contact me my email address is nathanhassall@msn.com

Read the Award winning story of the first Special Forces Team into Afghanistan after 9/11. Written like a screenplay, this fictional account of the opening salvo to the War in Afghanistan told by the men who lived it. Sure, there is action, explosions and gunfights, but what the reader gets in this book is the personal relationships among the men of this Special Forces A-Team. The reader gets a glimpse into the lives of these exceptional characters.

Hello, I am an author of thrillers. I also review them on my site
SeeleyJames.
My most recent review of Steve Berry's new book lays out the beginner mistakes he makes with that whole 20th Century publishing model behind him and asks, 'what do they provide for the $27 cover price?' :) I've seen some interesting discussions on this board. I look forward to engaging with everyone.

Hi! My name is Chris Rakunas, and I am the author of two books, both published by indie publisher Divertir Publishing. The first, Tears for the Mountain is a non-fiction book about a medical mission trip to Haiti following the 2010 earthquake there. It chronicles a team tasked with the delivery of 20,000 pounds of medical supplies to area hospitals who encounters gangs of roving bandits, heart wrenching stories of survival, and a notorious Haitian warlord. A portion of the proceeds goes to benefit the orphanage in Port-au-Prince where the team was based.

Hello all!My name is Gigi Griffis. I'm a writer and a humorist with a knack for dating crazy people. I just published my first memoir and would love to pick up some new readers! http://gigigriffis.com
Hello everyone. My name is Will Holcomb. I am just completing my first book, "The Infinite Jeff." I think the best way to describe it is, "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance" meets "Illusions". It is a four part book and part one is available on Smashwords: http://bit.ly/MnJWzM . I am finishing the final edits of the rest of the book. Right now, I am trying to figure out the indie way of promoting a book. Glad to see this group is here and offering a way to learn how to do that and learn from other members.
Hi, My name is Kristine Goad. My first book is a memoir called Your Mileage May Vary, http://www.ymmvthebook.wordpress.com. It is the story of my participation--as an asthmatic, overweight, novice cyclist--in the largest cross-country bicycle event in U.S. history. We traveled from the Seattle Space Needle to the Washington Monument in Washington, D.C. over the course of 48 days, and I still think about the journey every day. I released the ebook in November as a fundraiser for the American Lung Association and, like many of you, am still finding my way around the platform building and book marketing arenas.
I'm currently writing a novel.
I'm glad to meet all of you and look forward to learning alongside you!
I'm Richard Sutton. Just don't call me Dick, OK? I haven't been around much lately, so I thought I'd reintroduce myself. I'm a writer/designer/Indian Trader. MY first two novels, The Red Gate (2009) and The Gatekeepers (2010) are historical fantasies set on Ireland's rugged Mayo coast beginning 1911. I also have a few new ones currently in the works. You can connect with my rants and writing on my site, www.sailletales.com, our American Indian arts on www.kivatrading.com, and my marketing and design services on www.rscom.co Goodreaeds is a great spot to immerse yourself in all things Indie!I'll make sure to visit at least once every day from now on.
Kristine, your book sounds great. Since I'm a cyclist who loves to torment myself by taking on rides that are beyond what I'm trained for (though I have never even thought of riding across the country), it sounds totally reasonable to me. I'll pick up the Nook copy today.Did you hallucinate while climbing the Rockies? I have left many braincells in the mountains of CA, I'm pretty sure. :D
Hi, Rebecca. Unfortunately, I had an asthma attack that kept me sidelined for most of the Rockies--although there was a pretty dramatic event that affected all the other riders and made national news. I biked in the Cascades and the Appalachians and left a fair amount of sweat behind. The worst part about the mountains for me was that if my lungs survived the ascent, then I had to manage the descent and those speeds terrified me. I was very unprepared for this trip, and sooo wish I could do it again now that I have a more realistic view of what's required and have discovered Advair, which has totally changed my life. I hope you enjoy the book. I'd love to hear your thoughts!
Hi, I'm Nancy. My first novel, Dis/inhibition is available in eBook format at Amazon, iBookstore, and Smashwords. Barnes and Noble Nook and print version coming soon.I am philosopher and fiction writer, currently working on an urban fantasy series set in San Francisco. I am looking forward to hearing about other indie writers' journeys and ideas for writing, publishing, and marketing our passion.
Hi...Gigi, Will, Kristine, Richard, and Nancy. My name is Miles Gentry, and it's good to meet you. Welcome to the group.
Hey, all! I'm Stephen Couch. I've traditionally published short stories in several small-press magazines and anthologies, and officially embraced the Indie Side of the Force last year. Glad to be here!
Hi everybody, I'm Sherri Fulmer Moorer, also known by my not too hard to guess alias of SherritheWriter elsewhere online. I'm an independent author of several books and my goal is to contribute to the rise of ebooks and independent authors taking over the world. I'd also like to see laptops with retractable cords, robot maids, and the University of South Carolina Gamecocks win the College World Series a third time in a row. Thanks for offering this place where we can put our evil plan to take over the publishing industry into motion ;)
Hello and thanks for the welcome! I'm Judy MacDonnell and I have five books (self-published). Did a writing course back in 2003 and then puddled around with lots of ideas and manuscripts until last year when I decided it was time to finish a few (a personal memoir, 2 picture books and a YA adventure novel). My husband doesn't want to settle down, so it makes it hard to do anything by mail while moving around. I've been reading your posts with interest, on promotions etc...my books are all too old for "early" promotion now but I'll be more prepared next time. For the first books I was more concerned with the actual publishing process. Anyway, I love this group and will be looking forward to being part of it. Thanks again for having me :-).
Hi, I'm Bobby. As a soon to be a 1st grade teacher (after spending seven years in kindergarten)and middle grade fiction author, I'm thankful for some time to devote to promoting my latest work, The Glass Collectors, meeting other authors, and reading some good ebooks (hopefully I will read many more this summer that are on par with Christopher Cloud's A Boy Called Duct Tape). If you have the urge to know more about me or my books, you can check out www.theglasscollectors.com.
Hello all. My name is Cliff Hays. Although I started out writing poetry and fiction, in the last few years I have written only mathematics, science, and philosophy. I am also a multiinstrumentalist, songwriter, and lyricist. This is a great idea for a group. Thanks for the invite!
Indie wrote: "Introduce yourself to the community! Tell us who you are and anything else you want to share! Welcome!"Hi everyone,
I'm Elizabeth Yon (you can call me Liz), and my first indie book was released in May of this year. It's titled Wilderness: A Collection of Dark Tales, and it's a compilation of eerie short stories told mostly in the style of original fairy tales. The book is available on Amazon.com and BN.com, and it will soon be available as an e-book, too (probably some time in July). I'm very happy to meet everyone!
Hello! I'm Terry Tyler and I write contemporary women's fiction - the nearest I can get to putting it into some genre or other! I have 3 self-published books on Amazon Kindle Store, which are doing well in the UK and somewhat less so in the US, though I am finally starting to get some readers and reviews there.
I'm currently writing my fourth, which is a humorous one (with poignant bits!) about Dave Bentley, a wannabe rock star in a small town in the east of England.

My name is Brandon Clements, and I recently released a novel called Every Bush Is Burning. (Goodreads page: http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/12... )I blog at www.brandonclements.com.

Wow, eight new members in less than twenty hours!Greetings to Stephen, Sherri, Judy, "Bobby," Cliff, "Liz," Terry, and Brandon. Welcome to the group!
Miles and J, thanks for the welcome. Are there genre groups within the Indie Book Collective? I would really enjoy connected with other Middle Grade fiction writers as well as other guys who review books.
Hi, I'm Danny and I'm a writer as well. I have two books out so far, Burnt Stones and City Vamps. My third, The Exit Strategy, will be out this summer. I write in various genres. You can find me at www.dannyfisherwrites.com or facebook me at dannyfisherwrites or twitter me at Dfisherwrites. Glad to be here!
"The suspense kept on building and that's what held my attention. The characters were well developed and you cared about them until the end - then you cared even more."Hi, I'm an author from Highlands of Scotland (and the quote above is from a review of my novel. The Survival of Thomas Ford)

Robert wrote: "Miles and J, thanks for the welcome. Are there genre groups within the Indie Book Collective? Seems like children's discussions are largely for the young crowd, and our books aren't for YA, either. In my mind, I divide it all up just like in our library--picture books, Easy Readers, and J (I.e. middle grade). We put YA at the other end of the library, either because that's where the space is, or to try to keep the 4th graders from the snogging vampires. I've never asked.
Hi, and thanks for the welcome! I became an "Indie" publisher after several years of frustration submitting sporadically to "proper" publishers. It was more difficult for me than it should have been, simply because my husband doesn't want to settle down and so we had no fixed address to use for submissions. Long story.Anyway, last year I decided to self-publish, and was led to use Createspace and Smashwords, which I find superb. Both of these companies are wonderful. Now the promotion has become a consuming factor in my life! It is as important as the publishing :-).
Thanks for the opportunity to join this group. I am sure I will benefit and hope I can contribute.
So far I have two children's picture books, a personal memoir, a young adult novel, and the first of a series of Scripture picture books.

Hi, my name is Rhonda Brutt and I'm passionate about YA Paranormal Romantic Fiction. My first novel, Voyance, was released in paperback last October and is getting pretty good reviews on both B&N as well as Amazon. My next book(still untitled)will be available later this year. You can check out my website at http://rhondabrutt.com/ or on Facebook at Rhonda Brutt Author
Hello, I've posted before but held off on formally introducing myself until I self-published my first book. My name is D. M. Dutcher, and while I love to read all kinds of fiction, I feel led to write juvenile and middle grade books. I'm proud and a little bit scared to say that I have finally self published my first book on Kindle:
Triune: Three as One
It can be found at my author page at:
http://www.amazon.com/-/e/B008GG1GL2
It's a story about three young superheroes who find a routine rescue of a downed alien ship to be the beginning of an invasion. The psionic Jamie, the gun mage Becca, and the android SARA soon find that they are facing an enemy that can turn everyone they know against them. Can they win?
I blog at http://www.dmdutcher.com, and tweet as DavetheYAWriter. I'd like to also thank the people of this group, because you don't know how encouraging you all have been. Here's to the success of indie fiction, something that has made it possible for all of us to pursue our dreams!
Hi! I'm Doug Boter, author of The Guru Delivery. I became inspired to write it because I saw so many people struggling with life and I wanted to help. It's basically a very practical approach to spirituality written as a parable. My interests are philosophy, spirituality, metaphysical, law of attraction, psychology, and things of that nature.I just discovered goodreads and am looking forward to further perusing the site.

I lurk here, I post here, but I don't think I've ever officially introduced myself! I write and teach middle grade and young adult speculative fiction. I have a middle grade fantasy series out with boutique press Hydra House and I'm currently pitching a humourous YA sci fi. I blog at theaccidentalnovelist.wordpress.com
So many books out there! I get overwhelmed sometimes.
I'm officially a GoodReads.com author! http://www.goodreads.com/NatalieNicole We're still in the process of adding goodies, writings, and lyrics to this profile. Connect with me there and let us know what accoutrements you might like to see on GoodReads in the way of giveaways, news, and more. ;D
