Tathagata | 3 comments FWIW, the school libraries are getting social. But why facebook/twitter and not goodreads.com? Anyway ... my real question is what would be the easiest way so that I can order books to a library right from goodreads? You know, like the google scholar thing - you specify a proxy url, which allows you to access the publications and journals of the library right from google scholar. I currently have access to University of Illinois, Chicago-s library (which subscribes to I-Share program) and the Chicago Public library. The former uses vu-find, which I guess jas an api.
Would it be easier (to both build and use) to have it as a firefox plugin?

Hmm, I've been getting that too often in forums these days. Ok, the scenario is - I come across a book, immediately search and add it in goodreads. Next I switch over to a tab and open my school's/local library page and search it there and if found order it. I was thinking about integrating these two.

Just as you have the ability to search amazon, barnes & nobles etc. how about the same with public libraries? In this context it reminded me of google scholar - Under settings in google scholar - one can search and select libraries. Online access to library subscriptions is usually restricted to patrons of that library.

Having something in goodreads would have been nice.

Michael Economy (michaeleconomy) Have you seen our booklinks feature???

http://www.goodreads.com/user/edit?ta...

There you can add a link to your local library and then it will show up on the book/show page.

Would that do what you want?

Tathagata | 3 comments WOW ... the whole list of urls did not show up for some reason. Added I-share catalog ... But unfortunately it wont take in the book name and search by the ISBN/title .. guess because it requires a login.
