Cat (thiscatreads) | 3 comments I'm new to the cozy mystery genre, so please help me out!

I was recently introduced to the genre with Donna Andrews's Meg Langslow series. I liked these books, but didn't love them. What I enjoyed: Donna's style of writing and sense of humor. My main complaint: I found the plot of each mystery simplistic and not terribly interesting.

So now I'm looking for cozy mysteries with more complex plots. Recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Katherine I like the China Bayles mysteries and another series, the name of the author escapes me, but one of hers is Murder on Lexington Avenue--turn of the century ( 20 th) midwife in NYC partnered with an Irish cop.

Melodie (melodieco) | 5280 comments I agree on Susan Wittig Albert's China Bayles books. They're great reads! You might also try Earlene Fowler's Benni Harper series.

Kaye (momgee) | 862 comments How about Sally Goldenbaum's seaside knitter's series? The main characters seem to have more intelligence and use deduction and logic a lot more than other cozies. There aren't any hair-brained last minute heroics by TSTL characters.

Kate (kate28) | 141 comments I just read Sweet Revenge A Lady Hadley Regency Mystery (Lady Arianna Hadley Mystery) by Andrea Penrose and the plot was more complex than most. It dealt with high finance and a bit of history. Plus, the book was REALLY good! Only one in the series so far.
