Dee (austhokie) | 1379 comments maybe they just like torturing you?? i think you can guesstimate roughly how long a book is page wise...my experience is about 30 pages per hour, seems to be the norm - the jd robb books are about 330-390 pages and they seem to be in the 10-12 hour time frame

Brenda Audiobooks Only | 631 comments No torture for me :D I haven't read the two stories before this one yet so no rush for me.

I'm just curious as always - and happy to see Tantor on the ball with the books they are producing.

I hadn't thought about the guesstimating but I'm sure your right in there being a formula between page number and how long the audio will end up being.

Brenda Audiobooks Only | 631 comments Nalini Singh's Tangle of Need hit Audible today. Nice to see it in just two days instead of a week or more after the release date.

And I like Tantor's cover better than the hardback's. :)

a little OT....what are the chances that Tantor will make an app so that we can listen to the audio books on the Kindle Fire?

message 209: by Cassandra (last edited Jun 06, 2012 01:18PM) (new)

Cassandra | 106 comments Kindle only supports Audible at this time. There is no option for us to create an app for it.

And yes June Is Audiobook Month so it will be 50% off all titles at www.tantor.com all formats but only what's available on our site not the Audible versions.

Thanks Cassandra...I have sent a few e-mails to Amazon about allowing an app for Tantor on the fire...

message 212: by Cassandra (new)

Cassandra | 106 comments Thanks! Hopefully we'll be able to do something in the future. I'm sure as soon as the opportunity to make an app is there we will be on it.

harlequin {Stephanie} | 3 comments I went crazy on the 50% off sale. On the pre-sale beware the charges hit your bank a few days before they ship the book. WHICH MADE ME FURIOUS!

I kept seeing Jacquelyn Frank books advertised as coming-soon to audio. Does anyone like her books? Think they are worth a purchase?

message 215: by Brittany B. (new)

Brittany B. (benoibe) | 310 comments I've seen mixed reviews. I'm too afraid to try her new stuff...

message 216: by Taria (new)

Taria Reed (tariar) | 137 comments I loved her nightwalker series but wasn't crazy about the other stuff I listened to by her. However; I haven't given up on her just yet.

harlequin {Stephanie} | 3 comments I have the nightwalker already. It's on my short list. Not to be confused with my short-short list.

Will probably buy the one about aliens anyway. I have a weakness.

message 218: by Cassandra (new)

message 219: by Angie (new)

Angie (angiemb) | 415 comments Just saw they are releasing the upcoming anthology "The Undead in My Bed". At first I was very excited because I hadn't thought it would come to audio, then I noticed that Amanda Ronconi would not be narrating the Molly Harper story. I can't imagine one of her stories narrated by anyone else. They just fit together. She is half of the reason I love those books. I don't if I will break down and listen or just read it this time.

message 220: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 1329 comments Ooohhh! I just saw in Tantor's website that the Fast Track series by Erin McCarthy will be released starting in September!

message 223: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 1329 comments I haven't read it but have been mean to...now that I know that it will come out in audio, I'll wait!

message 224: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 1379 comments the narrators name sounds vaguely familiar - emily duarante - i'm not sure if i listened to something by her or not

message 225: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 1329 comments yup...sounds familiar...

I just checked Audible and it seemed she narrated Smooth Talking Stranger, the Tairen Soul series and lots of other stuff.

Nichole ~Bookaholic~ (nicholebookaholic) | 225 comments Dee wrote: "the narrators name sounds vaguely familiar - emily duarante - i'm not sure if i listened to something by her or not"

All you have to do is like or comment on the post to be entered. The series is Science Fiction/Alternate History.

A little late on this but my hubby LOVES this series and keeps bugging me on when I'm going to listen to them. My problem is simply being in the mood for non-romance or non-urban fantasy books.

Brenda Audiobooks Only | 631 comments Cassie pleeeease tell me Tantor has Ilona Andrews' Steel's Edge in the works? Preferably with Renee Raudman at the mic per usual with Andrews' books.

Steel's Edge (The Edge, #4) by Ilona Andrews releases Nov 27th - I could swear I saw it earlier in your Coming Soon section but now it's nowhere to be found?

Tantor can't leave us without the fourth (& final) book in the Edge series - they just can't. Yes I'm begging here. m(-_-)m

Brittany B. (benoibe) | 310 comments Cassandra and Tantor: Im thrilled to see Pamela Clare's I-team series available!! Tantor has produced so many great books in audio! Thank you Cassandra and Tantor! You really do listen to the fans!!!

*** request: Monica McCarty has 3 books published in audio for her Highland Guard series. She mentioned that her audio contract was for only for the first three in the series. There are 3 new books and one on the way. The audio rights were up for grabs as of a few weeks ago! Can Tantor look into it?

The Viper (Highland Guard, #4) by Monica McCarty The Saint (Highland Guard, #5) by Monica McCarty The Recruit (Highland Guard, #6) by Monica McCarty , and coming soon: The Hunter

Two more suggestions:
Sherry Thomas (she's a rising star!!!)

** And Sharon Kay Penman... I would give an arm and a leg for a selection of this author's work. ❤❤❤❤❤ These books are Historical Fiction, with some romance. Most of all, they are books of literary merit that should be available for everyone to hear...

FABULOUS sale, Cassie!

Quick correction: Pleasure is read by Kristen Potter, but Forbidden is read by me - just so's no one is confused.

Also an addition - both A Cast-Off Coven and Hexes and Hemlines are now available as well. These are delightful urban fantasy "cozies," with a romantic thread.

Thanks for looking into Steel's Edge Cassie - I promise it will be a hit in audio just as the others have been. :)

Loved Lord's Fall - if you to put together a collection of Thea Harrison's novella's in audio? I'll be first in line. ;)

As an aside - the combo of Kaleo Griffith and Pamela Clare's I-Team series was genius - say a big thanks to the powers that be.

Cassandra | 106 comments Bad and good news about Steel's Edge. I found out this is not a Tantor book, but someone else should be doing it. :(

Sorry Brittany I seem to only be getting bad news today.
Monica McCarty and Sherry Thomas's books are not available, so they should be coming out by someone else at some point. And it does not look like we will be able to do Sharon Kay Penman at this time.

message 248: by ~KarenH~ (new)

Vic (vicaet) | 494 comments Agree with Brenda on I-Team/Kaleo team up and the request for Thea Harrison's shorts on audio. I love having the novellas of my favorite series on audio as well. (*grumble* If we could only get our hands on P. Brigg's Alpha & Omega novella *grumble*)

Bummer about Steel's Edge. I was just wondering if I was going to buy audio or ebook but look like I'm going Kindle.

Thanks to Tantor for ALL the fabulous audios coming out lately and being so responsive to our requests. You are a great company ambassador Cassandra!

Dang! missed that sale - *pout*

message 250: by Angie (new)

Angie (angiemb) | 415 comments I read on Ilona Andrews' site that Steel's Edge and the next Kate Daniels' books will be published by Recorded Books. She said that she requested Renee Raudman but doesn't know if she'll be the narrator for either book. If they change for the Kate book, I guess I'll be reading it this time around.
