Lol! It took me a minute to figure out what to do with myself once the pool, beach and mojitos suddenly disappeared ;-)
Diane, I would put that as a solid #1. Even though they end up in the past, it is still with a contemporary knowledge and frame of mind.

I have a few suggestions for 8:2 and 8:3 as well as 9:1. For 8:2 (set in the future) - The 'In Death' series by JD Robb. Awesome. For 8:3 - Steamed by Katie MacAlister. Fits all the criteria. A person from the present gets thrown into the past, and into a Steampunk romance. For 9:1 - Plum Lucky by Janet Evanovich. Just plain FUN!

Not on you, Kami. I pick the geography category for the monthly challenge. So you absolve yourself. : )
Would a book set in an 'Amish community' with blossom on a tree on the cover be OK for category 7.3?
Joanne, I knew this was going to come up when I made the category. After talking it over with the local librarian, we determined the answer is yes. Absolutely.
Whew, thanks Jim. I have decided to give myself an extra challenge this time and try for my orignal list of level 1's and 2's and also to go for as many level 3's as well. Not sure if I will make all 20 books though (especially as I don't speak/read hindi or any other dialect LOL)
I read Don Quixote in Spanish in college. That's the most I've ever done in another language. And let me tell you, that was SLOW and PAINFUL. But for some of our members, they would think that was super easy. that's the reason for having so many levels and choices. Something for everybody.
lol...i remember attempting to read something in french...i debating getting one of the erotic romance books from ellora's cave that they have in spanish, and getting a dictionary and going from there
Ah, Jim, some categories seem very impossible! Case, 9.3: a horror book with 'luck' in title. Gah. Any suggestions where I can search books by genre AND title? No such luck in amazon :( (Now I'm obsessed with the challenge, trying to find books to fit! Your fault, Jim)
Ritu, I am having the same problem. I have been told that Lady Luck by Jane Toombs is a horror so will probably go with that unless I find something else. Horror isn't my genre, never read one in my life so it will be interesting to see what it is like. :)
I used a thesaurus and looked up other words that could symbolize luck...I think i'm using chance for this one, because to me lots of luck and fortune rests on a person taking a chance...in gambling, in life
I'm sure there's one out there. I just haven't found it yet. Sure I made the categories, but that doesn't mean I have any idea what I'll be reading yet.
Ritu, I'll even take something relating to luck or bad luck. something like 'Roll the Dice', 'Dead Man's Hand', 'Spin the Wheel', 'Rabbit's Foot', or something like that. (I don't know if any of those are even books let alone horror BTW.)Or you could read a Friday the 13th book (those are definitely horror related and actually exist)
Yeah, I do have quite a number of Stephen King's books on my TBR. But when you throw down a gauntlet like that, it makes one determined to do so esp when it is horror. Ergo, my (annoying) questions..

I'm only 100+ pages into it. It is about a serial killer coming back after 15 years. The first chapter reminded me of the opening scene of the movie Scream!
I have to admit to being completely out my element with the horror genre. (I'm a COMPLETE chicken!) So, I looked up the definition, wikipedia horror definition. I especially thought the links to the different horror awards might help people find horror titles. I haven't decided if I'm up to going with a scary title. I'm not sure my budget can take the added electricity bill from sleeping with all the lights on!
I am in again, i have the following 7 books already out from the library.. 1. M=May: Coerr, Eleanor Mieko and the Fifth Treasure

Hey Jim - *tongue in cheek* the book I'm reading for 6.3 Plane crash The Star King has 'eject, eject, eject'! Can I substitute that for 'mayday, mayday, mayday'? LOL.
Question, Jim!I just read a medieval book where a religious colony was burned at the stake (men, women and children) by the Templars. The book is a romance so it's obviously not about them but they are pivotal to the plot and there's a lot of talk about them, relics, etc.
Can I use that for 7.2?
D.G., I had envisioned the piece taking place in the colony. However, since I also wrote that mostly as a tongue in cheek joke, I suppose we can't take it too seriously. I suppose the family barbecue certainly qualifies.
Hi Jim, got a question for you-Can I use A Lot Like Love for 5.2? The hero is supposed to go to NY for his Mother's birthday party and ends up entagled in a case and can't go. He doesn't want to miss her party and endure her wrath, but can't help it. He disappoints her but ends up making it up to her in the end. Does it fit well enough into the "going to seek Mom" category?
I don't know Fran. That's stretching it pretty far. If you come up against it at the end I suppose you can use it. But if you find a better substitute in the meantime, that would be better.
No problem Jim- I will keep my BDSM choice. I'll make sure to fit it in before the end of the month.
I forgot to post my 10:1. M=May: Coerr, Eleanor Mieko and the Fifth Treasure
2. Birthday: Levine, Gail Carson Ella Enchanted
3. India - character: Osbourne, Mary Pope A crazy day with cobra's
