I have just finished this book and I did enjoy it. However, I am reading a wide range of books (some 15 books by 12 different authors) right now and deciding which authors I am going to spend a little more time on. My question is: I know that the characters in this book and perhaps a few more in the series are not the main characters of the series and I was wondering which Miles Vorkosigan book I should read to get the best feel for the series (or which is your favorite).

Thanks, I will probably read the whole series, just not sure yet which series I am going to read first out of the ones I have recently started. So far, I think Locke Lomora is winning, but Weber's Honor and Bujold's Vorkosigan are close seconds.
Bujold did not write the first part of hte series in order if that helps. From MIRROR DANCE on they were written and published in order.
In her afterwards, the author said she had wrote the books in order but the 1st book was rejected and the 3rd book was bought. Then later she re-edited the first two books herself and then sent them on to the publisher to be printed as prequels. So the books were written in chronological order just not published in chronological order.
Here is the full scoop on recommended reading order for the Vorkosigan saga:http://www.goodreads.com/story/show/2...
The first two books in the Vorkosigan Saga are pre-Miles Vorkosigan, but so good. Then, it's all about Miles and he is a great character to journey with. I say read them in order...chronological and just enjoy the humor and plot twists. See the chronological order here on goodreads. (they were not published in chrono order so look at the list.I do audio books at the gym so I can read more!
