What do you think the teachers while school was out of session?

I think they did the usual teacher vacation stuff.

I think some of them probably took much needed vacations.

I think Dumbledore spent his summer keeping an eye on Harry and keeping alert to any possible sightings of Voldemort, even before Book 4. He's definitely a teacher who deserved a vacation but I don't think he ever took one.

I think McGonagall probably either travelled or visited family. Do we know if she has siblings or children of her own? Hmm, I kind of imagine her just spending the school breaks with a good book and a couple of close friends.

Hagrid probably spent his summers looking for strange and unusual animals to either have as pets or collect for the Care of Magical Beasts class as well as ensuring the animals and creaturs that live in the forest are attended to.

i never really considered that they left the castle, except for little excursions. i always imagined them there at hogwarts preparing for the next year.

same here, rachel. i thought hogwarts was their home like prof. trelawney and slughorn doesn't have permanent addy. but in book 6 it showed snape lived outside hogwarts. well, the teachers were probably doing things they can't do in hogwarts and seeing places. dumbledore was definitely busy finding out about tom riddle and went looking for the horcruxes during school break.
