This is a book that I probably read in 1991 or 1992. It was probably at the 3rd or 4th grade reading level.

The book is about a girl who's doing a generations project for school and she asks her grandmother for help. She learns about grandmother's life as a young girl and it makes her realize that while her grandmother may have grown up during a different time, she still wanted the same things that the girl wants.

I remember the cover being teal. The picture was of the young girl dancing in a yellow flapper costume while the grandmother plays the piano.

After many years, I've finally figured out the name of this book! I found it in a used bookstores last week. It's called "Video Stars" by Molly Albright. It's part of the Two of a Kind series.
