My first Stephen King book was The Stand. I read it when I was 15. I received it as a Christmas present. My mom is a big Stephen King fan, so she wanted me to read it. (The Stand is her favorite SK book) I loved it!

Mine was nightmares and dreamscapes, the short story anthology. The story about dolan's Cadillac still gives me chills
Pet Sematary. though the Shining or Bag of Bones is still currently my favorite still. Though Mr. Mercedes did give them a run for their money.
I started reading the Dark Tower series and it wasn't until after the first 4 books I picked up something different, Misery and have loved everything I have read since. I'm not sure if he has wrote a 'bad' book yet but I'm yet to find it if he has!
My first Stephen King book was "Carrie". I've been attempting to keep up with his bibliography ever since."The Shining" and "Night Shift" are still favorites.
My first Stephen King story was "Fire Starter." I was about 15 and after reading just a few pages in, I was hooked! When I got "The Talisman," I even skipped a class to keep reading through a specially good part. That was the only time I ever played hooky!

It also has an interesting interview at the end (at least the CD version I listened to) where he talks about audiobooks and how he used to pay his kids to record narrations for him so he could listen while driving.

Dolores Claiborne. I was 11 or 12 and a classmate was reading it; I got curious so I asked him if he would borrow it to me when he was done, and he did c: (Still, haven't watched the movie yet)
Under the Dome. It is the shortest thousand page book you will ever read. I couldn't stop reading it.
Tommyknockers or Desperation. I can't recall. Good I kept at it cause both of them I did't like that well.
Im 14 and I read my first stephen king book this year, It was Needful things. I really liked it. I want to watch the movie so bad. I am reading IT now.

The Shining! I was 13 and started reading The Shining at night during a thunderstorm. Scared the crap out of me! That maze!! I was totally hooked on SK after that.

My first was IT. I was 15, and snagged it from my mom. I was terrified and have been hooked ever since. IT, along with The Shining, are my favorites.
was my first of King's books. It was the first scary book I read as a teen, and it changed my thoughts on horror books.
The first King book I read was The Stand. I read that book on summer vacation one year while overseas, finished it in a week and then reread it so many times that poor paperback looked like it had been mangled by a lawnmower. I never looked back.

It's the one I read (just once), and I always wonder what had been cut out for the first release.
It was! The edited version is missing some of the details about Trashcan Man's back story as well as a lot of the background character stories (I believe, I only made it half way through and decided I liked the longer version better.)
My first Stephen King book was my mum's copy of 'Skeleton Crew' back in 1985 (she'd just finished it so I nabbed it from her dresser).'The Mist' blew my ten-year-old mind and I was hooked from that point onwards.
Thinking about it, my niece is nine and as much of a bookworm as I was at that age... I may have to slip her a copy of 'Skeleton Crew' next year and see how much trouble I get into with her parents! ;-)

Cujo. I was ten, and loved dogs. That was the end of Beverly Cleary books for me and the beginning of a lifelong love of horror.
MISERY. I was laughing (that cockadoodie Annie Wilkes) and horrified (oh poor, poor Paul Sheldon...) and in love (with King's masterful writing) all at the same time. :)
The Stand....wait...strike that...the first one I attempted to read was Desperation. This was right after it was released. I was a teen and my aunt recommended it, thought id like it. I wasn't into books at the time though so i only got a few dozen pages before giving up. Then years later I saw the tv movie for the Stand. Realizing that the story itself was interesting despite the "tv movie" level of effects and acting...i picked up the Stand novel to try and read for pleasure, something i hadn't done since Goosebumps. To make it better I picked up the Long & Uncut version. Lol. I trudged through it slowly but developed a liking toward the way King developed his characters and story. So I started picking off King books after that one at a time. I've read over 40 of his works by now.
I tried starting IT when I was in like 5th grade and got through about 300 pages before I gave up. But years later I read The Shining and got totally hooked and haven't stopped reading since. So I guess the answer, after my big ol' tangent, is The Shining.
I am a newbie in Stephen King books, but after i read Carry for the first tine and watching the film too, it made me wanted to read all of his books. But i am scared about ghost thing, so maybe i would pick the thriller only.. Nice to meet u all
