Just finished Revolutionary Road (Richard Yates) and now am halfway through The Shining. I haven't read any Stephen King in years and for some reason just decided to revisit some of his classics. :-)I have a lot of down time at work and a Kindle app on my computer...WOO HOO!
Teresa, I didn't enjoy the shining- tell us what you think. Emma those are both such beautiful books. The movies aren't bad, Secret Life of Bees is the better film.
Lisa,Finished it up yesterday and for the most part I really enjoyed it although it was really hard for me to not watch the movie in my head as I was reading, lol.
I'm not completely sold on the horror genre though, even though that is what I read almost exclusively in my teens. However, for some reason I am drawn to books centered around houses (or hotels I suppose, lol) and the history surrounding them. I may try another King novel but only if there's a picture of a house on the cover. ;-)
Currently reading "The Resistance: the French Fight Against the Nazis". Research for my novella: "Nonna's Story, Agent for the French Resistance". Loving the research i get to do in advance of writing!
I just recently finished "The thinking Woman's Guide to Magic, A Novel" by Emily Croy Barker. I really enjoyed the plot. Currently I'm reading Demon Seed. recommended by my dad. not to sure yet.
I'm reading The Godfather so my husband will quit calling me a communist for never having read it or having seen any of the movies. We will watch them after I read it so Lorelai and Rory can give me my Gilmore Girl card back! ;-)
I am reading the third book in The Divergent Trilogy - Allegiant by Veronica Roth. The audiobook I am listening to is called 100 People Who Are Screwing Up America (And Al Franken is #37). If any one wants to discuss books just friend me.
Currently, I have 3 currently reading books in my Goodreads profile. I'm reading this month's book: The Diary of Anne Frank, my audiobook is The Watsons by Jane Austen, and when I finish the bookclub selection I will go back to reading Fifty Shades of Grey. If you want to follow my reviews, please send a friend request.
I'm reading "Just Kids" by Patti Smith, it's wonderful!!
I finished reading Random Memories by Delilah Canaan. It was nice if you want a deep story. I am reading Rose which is a novella by the same author. If foot ball does not lure me away from books I should finish it today.
currently reading, Antonia Fraser's Henry the VII wives. very good, very readable, helps dispel some of the myths and stereotypes about this women.
well I just got The Spirit of Nimue in the mail so i guess I'll be reading that and Crown of Midnight today
Now reading "Letting Go Of The Person You Used To Be" by Lama Surya Das :) he's such a brilliant writer! Just finished "Minimalism: Essential Essays" a couple days ago ^^
reading The Bell Jar. re-watching Gilmore girls for the nth time and noticed many Sylvia Plath references so thought it about time I give it a read! enjoying
I just finished reading The Bell Jar, for the same reason you are reading it and I really enjoyed it. What do you think so far?
I just picked up Aimee Bender's The Color Master: Stories at Barnes & Noble the other day. She utilizes such vivid detail and metaphors to convey some very disturbing concepts. Every story has something of a twist ending. Like her other work, it is absolutely superb.
Reading quite a few things lately but the two books I'm most actively reading are The Ring of Morgana
by Donna Hosie and Betrothal
by Mande Matthews
I'm currently reading A Moveable Feast by Hemingway because, you know, Ernest only has lovely things to say about you ;)
