Reluctant Cross Over Reader age 14 & interested in light historical fiction

Hello I got a stumper a few days ago. A 14 year old girl came in asking for a historical fiction book that is also a chicklet. I suggested a few books for her but she didn't like them. The ones I suggested was Catherine Called Birdy, the American Girl Series, etc..
any suggestions?

The Luxe (and the second in the series Rumors) by Anna Godberson (this is actually the one that might have got her hooked on historical chick lit).

She might also like the Phillipa Gregory books--written for adults, but if she's a sophisticated 14-year-old she'd LOVE them.

FYI--my daughter is almost 13 & wouldn't be caught dead with an American Girl book at her age--she read those by 4th and 5th grade.

My 7th Grade niece raved about Charlotte Doyle. In fact she reviewed for my blog. "The Luxe" I've heard alot about and opinions are divided. Some disliked the bed-hopping and historical inaccuracies, others thought it was an entertaining read that will end up on TV.

My 7th grader loved The Luxe & Rumors (there's nothing vividly described in the bed-hopping). It's a fun read.

Thanks for the clarification, Sydney. I think we need as much info as possible about content.

And I made my comment about the bed-hopping because I know there's a range of parental opinions on the acceptability of that one.

I don't know what librarians do as far as making suggestions when it comes to potential "issues".
