Forthcoming books for April 2011!

One thing of interest was when I saw 'Except the Queen' by Yolen/Snyder it seemed really familiar, so I read the blurb and I remembered that I read a short story version of it in The Fair Folk anthology. I guess they made a full-length version of it, though since I wasn't all that impressed with the short story version, I think I'll pass.
Pity, since I have a thing for the Fae.

Though at least on her blog Valente was celebrating yesterday as its release date. . . ;)
And at some point I'll get to Betrayer, but I'm only on book #4 at the moment (what is Betrayer, #12?) so it will wait.
Phoenixfalls - apparently March 29th release dates are counted as April. Why I don't know, but that's how it is. The Steven Brust novel came out yesterday too. Maybe they look at the first weekend after the official date or something.

I would pick up the Brust if I were even close to caught up with the series. I love the Vlad Taltos series, but I'm sadly behind.
Here's one that's missing from the list:
Eona: The Last Dragoneye by Alison Goodman (2nd book in the young adult alt-Asia fantasy series, US hardcover release April 19, 2011)

Watcher of the Dead: Book Four of Sword of Shadows. Cavern of Black Ice and Fortress of Gray Ice were both good. I have Sword of Ice on TBR shelf and am looking forward to adding Watcher.

Is that coming in April already? I thought I saw he just finished it. I'm excited about that one too, but depending on my schedule I may skip it and wait until the third book's out, then re-read the first book and the two new ones back to back.
Yep, that makes sense. Shame though. I don't know if you were in the group back when Richard joined - this is back when we were on Yahoo Groups. He participated in our discussion of Thirteen, which ended up one of the best book discussions we ever had.

Also, for what it's worth, I read Except the Queen (when it was in HC, I guess, though via the library) and thought it was a pretty good read. Much better than a lot of the YA-ish faerie stuff that's out there.
I think Brust's book is counted as an April release for sales purposes. I read on Laura Anne Gilman's blog that the sales in the first month have some kind of significance, for purposes of counting sales. Determining whether or not something is a bestseller, maybe? I don't know/remember.
Definitely will be reading Tiassa someday, but Brust doesn't *quite* make my authors I'll pay hardcover prices for list. So I'll be waiting for the pb.
(I'll be very disappointed if Khaavren doesn't make an appearance!)

Tiassa, Kings of the North, and Fever Dream are on my list to watch for, but I *almost never* buy new books anymore. It just means I watch for a deal or wait for them to show up at the used book store.
I have some JV Jones & Fiona Patton books unread on my shelves. I probably will wait to see how I like those before buying more. And I'v heard some good things about Trudi Canavan but have never bought or read anything by her. She's on my "maybe I should check her out" list.

April 14 - Akata Witch by Nnedi Okorafor (young adult fantasy by the author of Who Fears Death)
April 15 - The Door to Lost Pages by Claude Lalumière

Brust, Steven: Tiassa
Sawyer, Robert J.: Wonder
I am 2 Vlad books behind plus this one. I tend to hold off on reading favorite books till the last minute. I tend to wait till I need a good book once in a while and reach for a good book. One of the reach for books is Brust's Taltos series
