Ellen (elliearcher) I enjoy looking at picture books (for the art, really) and many children or "tween" books. I pretend it's because I'm a teacher but it's really because I like them.
And yes, I won't read them in public!

McKenzie | 45 comments Sometimes I am embarrassed over liking Amish fiction, particularly Wanda Brunstetter stuff. Amish books sometimes have too much of a religious aspect for my taste, but I find the Amish culture to be fascinating.
Brunstetter's works are some I do enjoy, but I don't think she is what I would call a very polished writer by any means. Her characters all seem the same and her dialogue is sometimes pointless and bland. The women are too weepy and emotional as well.

I have been interested in reading some YA fiction but I am kind of ashamed to read something not in my age group. Yet the temptation is strong.

Ellen (elliearcher) I actually liked Love Comes Softly (Love Comes Softly, #1) by Janette Oke .

There. I've said it.
:)

Ellen (elliearcher) I liked Picoult's The Pact. Even though I felt manipulated & didn't like it, I was still hooked.
I now know what it feels like to feel compelled to read someone you don't actually like.

Hmm... I'm a fan of Picoult's novels specifically because of her ability to manipulate the reader. She makes it very hard not to see the many different sides of every issue. To each his own. :) Just my thoughts. :)

Ellen (elliearcher) That's funny tho' - we agree, we just respond differently. Kinda cool actually.
