SOLVED. Book of Shorts, where a husband on honeymoon is sprayed by skunk [s]

I think that this was a book of short stories, or related stories, but the chapters depicted different people's lives or different episodes from day to day lives.

The story I remember the most was of a young newlywed couple (probably arranged) and they were shy of each other on the honeymoon night. The husband goes out on the roof for some reason, and a skunk sprays him. Then his wife bathes him, and so begins her tradition of bathing him every night, throughout there rocky marriage and even the night they talked about his affair, he got a bath from her. Even when they argued and he treated her poorly, she bathed him every night. I think the man was a doctor.

I read this about 6 years ago and I keep thinking it has something to do with New York.

The target audience is adult (women, maybe?) I think it's a female author. I can't seem to remember any of the other stories in the book.
