I am reading Crooked Letter, Crooked Letter and am enjoying it so far. (Not 5 star enjoying--but I am liking it)
I'm reading: The Bake-Off. I wasn't sure I'd like it but, after reading almost half of it in a little less than 2 hours, I'd say it's pretty good! Though a little predictable and obvious in some places, I'm really liking it.
I finished Maid to Match by Deeanne Gist last night; I really enjoyed it. It's a historical romance set during the Gilded Age, but more in depth than what the title and the picture on the cover would lead you to believe, if you were only judging by that. I picked the book because it was only $1.99 for Kindle, and had good reviews. Now I am reading Pearl of China; a fictionalized account of the early years of Pearl S. Buck, author of The Good Earth.
Finished Crooked Letter. I liked 3 stars worth. Then Maid to Match - at just less than 4 stars; Then Far Away Home at a full fledged 4 stars. Now I have just started Chasing Amanda which I am liking so far.
The really cool thing is that every single one of those were either free or bargain books that I got thanks to POI! Most excellent!
Shari wrote: "I liked Far Away Home too; I hope the author is planning a sequel though, she left some loose ends."I absolutely agree! We need to know what happened in her life after she got on that train!!!!!
Just started
last night. Despite the many errors in grammar, (the author mixes up past and present tense, sometimes within the same sentence) it's a great story and I had a hard time putting it down to go to sleep last night. About 25% of the way through it.
I'm about to start PD James' Death Comes to Pemberley, but it's gotten some HORRID reviews here, so I'm not too sure about it!
I just finished reading Miracle Cure by Harlan Coben. It's the second book he ever wrote. I couldn't put it down. I can't wait to read Stephen King's newest book.
Started On Gold Mountain by Lisa See, really enjoying it. She is one of my favorite authors and this book is nonfiction about her family's history.
This is a book written by a local author in my neighborhood. It's a historical fiction/legal thriller and different from the genres I usually read. But I'm really enjoying it.

No thank you!
Just finished
Wicked Becomes You by Meredith Duran and am now on to a juvenile book from an author I like:
Darwen Arkwright and the Peregrine Pact by A. J. Hartley. The Kindle I just got for Christmas is borked, so I'm having to send it back for a replacement.
On my Kindle I am reading Warhorse with my granddaughter. In hardback I am reading Vanished by Tess Gerritsen. This is a Rizzoli and Isles book and very good so far.
As usual I'm reading more than one at a time. Stumbled on new Jesse Stone by Robert Parker book, written by NOT Parker. Decided to read all the Stone books beginning with Night Passage. Loved all the Spenser books, and enjoyed Tom Selleck as Stone so what the heck. So far so good.Night Passage
I am on the last 20 pages of The Mephisto Club by Tess Gerritsen. This is a Rizzoli & Isles series book. Next up is Freak by Tess Gerritsen. Once I have these two read I will be current on this series. Next after that is to read the Alex Cross Series by James Patterson so I can get them off my floor and make more room for me...
I've got several going, too. *Polaris* by Jack McDevitt (http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/33...), *The Wrong Hostage*(http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/14...) by Elizabeth Lowell, and a couple of others. Both McDevitt and Lowell are very good authors, and these are among several books of theirs I've read or have waiting.
I have several Elizabeth Lowell books on my shelf...have not read her books before so am curious to find out how you like her writing...
The books are just flying off the shelf lately...must be in a major reading mood...On the Kindle I am reading Letters from Alcatraz by Michael Esslinger. This is about the history of Alcatraz and letters that passed between the inmates and their family. Also letters that were written by some of the officials of the Justice department concerning the inmates.
Also on my Kindle I am continuing to read Warhorse with my granddaughter. I think this one is going to take a bit since we only read when she is here with me on weekends.
And in hardback I am reading Death on Demand by Carolyn G. Hart. I have four dead bodies and they are stacking up fast.
I just read
on my Kindle and liked it. Then, I finished
and it was AWFUL. Today, I'm going to pick up
at the library and read it next. But if the last few Gregory books are any indication, this one won't be great. But here's hoping for the best. :)
Finished Night Passage and moved on to Trouble in Paradise. Jesse's inability to move on from his ex bugs me a little.
Finished Trouble in Paradise. In deference to the political campaigns I began reading Theodore Roosevelt: an Autobiography. Fascinating man.

Finished Letters from Alcatraz and Death on Demand. Now I am reading on my kindle Bubba and the Dead Woman and in paperback Here There Be Dragons

Downloaded all of them as a freebie, but now I'm not sure if I'll keep on going with them. Maybe I'll switch it up a little and give it a break.
I'm listening to the Graphic Audio (dot net) versions of a favorite space-opera series, The Serrano Legacy. Starts with *Hunting Party* and moves on to *Sporting Chance* - I think there are 7 or 8 in the series. This is softer than the *Vatta's War* series from the same author, Elizabeth Moon. The Graphic Audio versions are full-cast plus, including lots of background sound effects, and IMO very well done, though $25US each book is rather pricey.
But if you can manage the costs, I highly recommend these. The narrators carry over from book to book and are very good at voices and attitudes, conveying the personalities of the characters.

I've read them all rather than listened to them. If you haven't tried her fantasy stuff, the omnibus edition The Deed of Paksenarrion is great also.
I've read the Paksenarrion books, but they got pretty gritty toward the end. I've re-read the Serrano series several times, and am now enjoying them again in audio. The Vatta's War audiobooks are available at Audible, and some OverDrive library collections have them; the Serrano ones are only available at the Graphic Audio site.
Having trouble getting into Searching For Pemberley. Pretty much a non-starter for me. Moving on to Charlotte Collins: A Continuation of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. I'm a sucker for Austen fanfiction. Probably a character flaw but what can I say.
On the kindle...Mark of the Dragon Queen by Katie W. Stewart Very good book...Opal Fire by Barbra Annino
In paperback...Knot Gneiss by Piers Anthony
Then with my granddaughters I am reading...War Horse by Michael Morpurgo
The Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling
The Borrowers by Mary Norton
Mark wrote: "Having trouble getting into Searching For Pemberley. Pretty much a non-starter for me. Moving on to [book:Charlotte Collins: A Continuation of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice|8885..."I LOVE Austen fan-fic too :) Searching for Pemberley was ok, it was a bit of a struggle at first then I began to care enough about the characters to finish the book. I don't know if I'd recommend it to anyone though. Charlotte Collins on the other hand was an excellent read. If you like it the Maria Lucas short story is a must read after. I also downloaded the Caroline Bingley novel from the same author...have you read it?
Are there any books that are favs of yours? While I'll try pretty much any Austen fic my favorite authors are Abigail Reynolds and Marsha Altman.

Mostly reading everything on the Kindle Fire now.
