Alese Couldn't of said it better!!

Kel (Faerie-bookworm) Totally agree... Rose is awesome, she doesn't curl up on the ground and become comatose. She gets sh*t done!

haha! so true :)

Allison This is much better than twilight in my opinion and i loved twilight. The main character is a strong female character and they have real world problems along with fantasy world problems. There is much more depth to the characters and a fast, great read!

To be honest, i don't think so. I really loved this series, especially Dimitri! I just got caught in the story, the amazing characters and the relationships.
I love the Sookie Stackhouse series too- especially Eric!
You're so not wasting your time

Lucinda They are NOTHING alike. If it was anything similar to Twilight, I wouldn't have picked up the book, let alone read the series!

I totally agree.. I also got caught up or rather addicted with VA that I read an entire book in one sitting.. :)) Just love it.

what do you mean?

This book is about kick-ass heroines (not whiny Bellas) and heroes that don't sparkle everytime they are confronted with white light. This book is so much deeper than Twilight and is WAY BETTER!

Amber They are like night and day, apples and oranges. I love kick-butt girls in books. Speaking of such, have you heard of Vampires Rule? It has a new twist on vampires and a girl who can kick serious werewolf butt. and get this: the younger brother is now the older brother. Lol I think my brother would have loved it if I became a vampire for ten years and then returned to mortal so he could be older and start telling me what to do.

I second this!

Kimi Neverrrrrrr.... Vampire Academy is completely different!

Annemarien Faraminan Vampire Academy is the opposite of Twilight. In VA the heroine is our lead Rose who is strong, funny, sarcastic and independent. Completely different from Bella who is always in trouble and fumbling thru life, Rose is the one saving everyone. Like always there is a love triangle, but both leading man are exceptional. You have the super fighter and the super talented, both been a great catch. Also the use of the other supporting characters is incredible. You have so many people to love in the series.

Heidi I absolutely adored this series! From the start of the first book all the way to the last, I was hooked. These Vampire Academy had a mix of successes and failures. It was filled with happiness and heartache. There were moments when I found myself sobbing relentlessly and other times when I was so excited that I had to put the book down to do a little "happy dance." This series has the obvious similarities to the Twilight books (i.e. vampires and impossible love connections) but that is where the similarities end. This series is much more relatable and a must read for any vampire loving reader!

Avital Not at all. In Vampire Academy the protagonist - Rose - is strong, while in Twilight Bella is weak and ridiculous. The story is cheesy while Vampire Academy is thrilling and full of exciting events.
So, VA is much better than Twilight.

Shanice Sooo different! VA was my life after reading the Twilight series and I must say it is way better for my taste. If you're like me and love a strong willed, sassy, kickbutt female main character, you are going to love this series(:

And the love triangle is hardly anything in this series. At least, Rose knows who she wants unlike Bella where she constantly confuses the two.

Karla BookAddict2 i´ve read both and believe me they´re nothing alike

J.D. Field The only thing about them that they have in common is both are about vampires

message 71: by J.D. (new) - rated it 4 stars

J.D. Field And VA is tons more exciting, lots more plot and twists and turns, more secrets. Maybe a bit less character less thoughtful, but still more bang for your buck.

message 72: by J.D. (new) - rated it 4 stars

J.D. Field Thinking about this a bit more seriously, though, one thing that the books have ain common is the way they deal with fate, destiny, the battle between what you want to be and your nature, like Bell and Edward can't be together because he's a vampire, Rose and all the other characters in VA have issues because some are vamps, and some are like their bodyguards, and the bodyguards are supposed to give up their lives for their destiny.

message 73: by Laerke (new)

Laerke No you are definitely not wasting your time. I didn't like Twilight either - not at all - but i LOVED Vampire Academy. Which is saying something considering I don't like vampires much.

It's nothing like Twilight. Particularly because it consists of REAL vampires. Not ones who sparkle in the sunlight.

Emily (RecordofaBibliophile) you can't even compare this to twilight! this is the most amazing series, i've ever read!!!
