I've been hanging out at the Barnes & Noble Mystery Book Club this week, too, and getting some interesting questions from the moderators. This was a 'just for fun' one, and I thought I'd share my answer here:

Well, first criteria would be to be a food that I like to eat (much like writing what I like to read). So, it's got to be some kind of berry, because I love berries. I think I'd choose to be a blackberry, ripe and luscious and delicious to eat, but also healthy and good for you. I am health-conscious and wouldn't want to be something unhealthy to eat! I'd want to be a treat, though, not something common that you eat every day, like a carrot. I want people to look forward to eating me--just as I want them to look forward to reading my books.

Magpie67 | 27 comments Well.... I guess I pick a banana because they are bright and funny looking or plums because they are so sweet.

I would pick snow peas for vegetables because they are crunchy and green.

So I guess that makes me a sweet, bright funny looking crunchy book reading nut.

:-D

the green part just reminds me of spring and summer and I love those seasons!

Michelle (mgauffant) | 4 comments I'd be broccoli. I think I'm one of the few people in the world who actually love broccoli. It's an adorable and misunderstood veggie!!
If I had to be fruit..hmm..a cherry! So delicious and pretty :)

Betsy (mistymtladi) | 2 comments Strawberries sweet and tart at the same time and incredibly healthy. The soul of spring turning into
summer.
Yellow beans just a bit different, like me .

I love your answer, Magpie! A crunchy book reading nut is an interesting image.

Michelle,
One of my favorite dishes is broccoli with hollandaise sauce.

And Betsy, I love spring, when strawberries are so plentiful and cheap.

Betty (nightreader) | 6 comments I think I'd be a crabapple, a nice red one that can be sweet in a jam, pickled or sauced, tart or spiced, sort of a bit of everything according to mood. Diversity, that's me. ;-)

A late apple and I'm late too, on your tour, I always seemed to be a step or two behind you, commenting after you were gone. Sorry! I was looking forward to it.

Thanks for your saucy comment, Betty, and late is fine! That's what's good about a virtual book tour. Not only can anyone anywhere read the posts, you can read them anytime. :)

Here's the full list of my stops, for anyone else who is in catch-up mode:
