Mel (melericson) | 4 comments Chapter One: The brutality of war is beginning to be realized. The teacher who encouraged our group to participate in this carnage is not actively involved and likely misinformed. As novice soldiers, we are intimately involved in warfare, yet simple day to day convenience and survival remains our primary objective.

Hi Mel, you are on the wrong thread; why don't you do a copy and paste and put this on the week one thread:

Here is the link for week one:

Barbara (barbarasc) | 12 comments Hello! I'm running behind schedule with my reading, but I've been wanting to read All Quiet on the Western Front. I know that the discussion ends in this group on July 31. Does the discussion sometimes continue past the "final date" of a particular book, or do some people continue discussing books even after the allotted time period is over?

THANKS!!!
~Barbara

Elizabeth S (esorenson) | 2011 comments Sure! Jump in anytime! Discussions definitely continue past the allotted time. You can jump into the discussions anytime. The only thing to watch for in spoilers. When you comment in Week 2's thread, for example, only mention stuff from the readings in either Week 1 or Week 2.

Thanks Elizabeth!! I'm always very careful about spoilers, but thanks for the reminder. I'm so glad that I can jump in anytime. I've been so busy with work lately (and finally, because I was out of work for a long time) so now I really only have time to read in the evenings. I was able to read 5 or 6 books per month, but my pace has slowed down quite a bit, BUT, I'd love to read All Quiet on the Western Front. You also have some other great books on your list that I need to get to!!!

Thanks again! I'm looking forward to joining in!!!

All my best,
Barbara

Barbara, we would be delighted to have you. This is a book thread dedicated to All Quiet on the Western Front so we do not require the same level of citation rules here since the entire thread is about one book.

But please realize that on all other threads we use the book cover, the author's photo when available and always the author's link.

Like so:
