SOLVED!: YA fiction, girl with esp sends thoughts to a boy who draws them for her [s]

The girl had a boyfriend named Kingsley and does experiments using pyramids in the beginning of the book. She lives with her mother, and even though she's really odd, she still manages to be somewhat popular at school. There is a new boy at her school who meets her and she find that she can send her thoughts to him and he can draw them for her. Eventually, instead of thinking things, she dreams and he draws her dreams. I can't remember what she was dreaming or why she wanted her dreams drawn, but she was really keen on it. I'm pretty sure I read this in the mid-90s, and I THINK I got it from one of those awesome Scholastic fliers that we used to get in school. I think the cover was brown with a picture of the girl on it.
