what do you mean have the books been changed? what books? and changed in what way?
maybe that some religious rules don't apply anymore because of modern life???

i meant that a lot of Atheists claim that the holy books have been changed and arent in their original format, because power crazy people changed it, or it was changed through time and translation etc.
religious people claim that the Books are the word of God and they havent been changed.
thats the basic of it.
my opinion of the Torah-
there would be no point in people corrupting it for one simple reason-
the Jewish tradition gives lots of 'power' to the words of the sages for what they are.
if its up to a point when the sages are taking one sentence from the Torah and taking out what they want from it, they dont actually need to change the Torah itself for people to listen to them.
as for the changes time and translation make:
translation- throughout history until this very day, the Jews have studied and read from the Torah in its original Hebrew . we still read the un-translated version...
changes of time- 1. writing a Torah scroll take a lot of work and money, because the scribes have to sit carefully on every single word and sound. if they make a mistake, im pretty sure they have to start over again.
2. there a quite a few places where the sages think there might have been some sort of mistake because it doesnt make sense. in those places, the word found is in regular writing, with a little 'written' next to it, and the word the sages think it should be is in a different writing with a little 'read' next to it...
so, discuss!
