You know, I rarely agree with Varmint, although we agree to disagree, but, yeah, the whole flaming nature of this thread is not what I have come to expect from this group. Don't dig bullies. I have been debating the value of this site in my life and I decided tonight that I would poke around one last time to see if there was any reason not to delete my account. My last stop was here because here is where I would find reason to stay, if anywhere. I got to RA's thread and I thought ..."just maybe" and it sure started out nice, and with many of my favorite Mundians in attendance. You guys were nailing it down, this site does have a very cool vibe ... witty, welcoming to diverse opinions, hip and naughty in all the best ways and then, POOF! A puff of ire-fueled flames erupts and it's the best known, most respected Mundians with torches and pitchforks to hand, looking to burn a witch. Sad, and beneath you, you- know- who- you- ares. I'm not pissed, just sad. Varmint, I owe you an apology ... I thought you were a Sheriff of Nottingham, but you were a Robin Hood all along. Me? I'm gonna go have a smoke and make a decision.

Seems to me those of you who weren't involved in the conversations where you were personally flamed by the people being discussed in this thread don't have any perspective on judging those of us who were. None of us invited the insults that were tossed our way. The people who came in to flame us simply disliked our political views and, rather than debate the merits of the ideas, leveled personal attacks on us instead.

If Axis member want to blow off steam after they have been attacked by random trolls, they absolutely have the space to do that here. If you weren't involved in the conversations you have the right to not read the threads. You have the right to leave this community at any time. But if you want to sit in judgement of people who are defending themselves, or blowing off steam after being poked with sticks for no good reason, you can take that elsewhere.

If you don't want to continue participating, I'd understand, and I wouldn't hold it against you for leaving. If it's not your thing it's not your thing. I've felt that way about other groups, too.
