Hey Krizia, when are you planning to read this? My husband has been egging me to read it, for the longest time. :)

@Krizia: I've always wanted to read that. I might join in. Depending on the reading schedule and the pace. :D

Maybe I'll start next week, June 20, Monday. Its a really long book. I haven't decided how fast yet. It will probably be 30 - 50 pages a day. This will probably be a very long read. hehe

Krizia, I just finished A Game of Thrones. Way awesome. Wa..."
That's why I'm gonna read this. My friend said the HBO series was really good. My tita also gave me the second book so might as well.

Talaga? Solid yung The Pillars of the Earth di ko rin mababa yung librong yon.

Yes, it wasn't as awesome as the first one.

They are like Noli and Fili. Noli is better than Fili but Fili has its moments.
I still have this thick book (Book 1 of a Trilogy) by Ken Follett. I bought it when it came out. Then di ko pa nabasa. Yesterday, nakita ko sa FB, may mass paperback na. Sana hinintay ko na lang.
Minsan kasi, ang tagal. Look at Ian McEwan's SOLAR. Hanggang ngayon wala pang mass paperback.

Kwesi The second one is still pretty awesome, just not as. I would also want to read a Dostoeyevsky or a Tolstoy but that's just too much commitment for me right now. Hehe

Krizia, I am not yet sure. That's why I asked you when you were planning to read it. I still have Passage to India with Angus after our current buddy-read. If you want to read Thrones already, go ahead, I don't want to keep you. That was why I asked first when you were planning on reading it. :)

Now, I'm not discouraging anybody. If you want to go with it, fine. I'm just sayin'...

Hehe, idk I liked El Fili more. XD Pillars of the Earth... kahit 1000 pages siya, I'll gladly read it again and again.

1) The Man Who Loved Children by Christina Stead
2) French Lieutenant's Woman by John Fowles
3) The House of Mister Biswas by V. S. Naipaul
4) Naked Lunch by William Burroughs
5) On The Road by Ken Kerouac
6) The Sportswriter by Richard Ford
7) Call It Sleep by Richard Roth
8) Money by Martin Amis
9) Ragtime by E. L. Doctorow
10) One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest by Ken Kesey
Anyone who wants to be my reading buddy? We will start on Monday, June 27. Set the speed and I will abide by it.

Next week, aside from the July books, I am planning to start reading:
1) At Swim Two Birds by Flann O'Brien
2) At Swim Two Boys by Jamie O'Neill
3) Madame Bovary or
4) The twin pack: Adventures of Tom Sawyer followed by Adventures of Huckleberry Finn
Or kung meron dyang gustong sadistahin ang sarili:
5) 2666 by Roberto Bolano (sige na, pasakitan natin ang ating sarili!!!!)
Please let me know if you want to join in any of the 5 books. I miss reading with a buddy.

So by July may active book buddies na. :)

That's good. I also have that Elephant book. I just think that it is not too challenging to be read with a buddy. But it's me of course.
MONIQUE:
Hay, sayang. I read A Passage to India na. My next E. M. Foster will have to be Howard's End.
I have the pirated DVD of Passage, in case you are interested later.

KD: Yih! I want At Swim Two Birds! Bakit meron ka niyan? I also have 2666, pero I am not yet in the mood to read a giant brick, hehe.

Actually I want to finish wuthering heights and dracula. I started reading those books two years ago but because of so many reasons I wasnt able to finish gang nagun. I really want to read classic books pero dahil I usually read to release stress, mas nauuna kong basahin yung mga light lang ang kwento.

Hm, parang gusto kong makisawsaw sa Wuthering Heights buddy read ah. :)

Sige, sali ka! Wuthering Heights is a lovely lovely love story and it will be nice to have ladies and gents as reading buddies para male and female perspectives.

@Lynai, nakakoverwhelm nga ang speed ni K.D... sure sali ka na din para mas masaya..

If you will attend in our meet up on July 23, we can also talk about this.
I thought I saw an old old movie (black and white) Lawrence Olivier (tama ba?) several years ago. Medyo corny. But did you know that Carlito Siguion-Reyna's Hihintayin Kita Sa Langit is a local adaptation of this? The one where Richard Gomez and Dawn Zulueta became an item? Showbiz! ha ha. Mahalata ang edad ko ha ha.

Okay, Monday then. I'm more interested in reading Wuthering than The Picture of Dorian Gray. Hehe...
