Pa suggest naman ng entry level for "serious reading" =D

Mahirap ata yan hehehe. Mga classics usually na ca-categorize as "serious" reading. Try mo yung mga books sa TFG 100 Books of 2011...may mga "serious" reading books don hehe.

Meron akong Dracula, Crime and Punishment, Tess D' ubervilles ,Great Expectations and Scarlet Letter.
Puro alikabok na sila sa table ko.

Charles: Mahabang kuwentuhan yan. Baka ma-spoil si Angus. But anyway, if I remember it right, walang sex after na mamatay yong anak nila di ba?

1) Ulysses - specific non-1001 book or James Joyce so we can discuss all his works.
2) Manix Abrera - specific author thread
3) Mina V. Esguerra - specific author thread
Para di kalat-kalat ang discussions nila. Or kung hindi ikaw, any member out there na favorite ang mga authors na ito. Go!!!
Ayaw ko kasi pulos ako ang nagcre-create ng threads kasi parang walang ibang active members. Lam mo yong mga groups na nai-invite sa akin group that they created themselves? Pag-open mo, pulos siya ang gumawa ng lahat ng threads. Parang di masaya kasi walang ibang active hak hak. So, di tuloy ako nagme-member. :)

"Mahirap" would be an understatement. hehehe.

Cary and I were talking about Villette by Charlotte Bronte. Nevertheless, if you have a copy & you want to join us, you are welcome.

[ THIS IS A PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT. I AM POSTING THIS MERELY TO MAXIMIZE READ COUNT. ]
Hello there!
This is DC. I'll be moderating the book discussion for TFG's October book-of-the-month.
In case you're not aware of it, the group talks about one book each month, taken from the TFG's Top 100 list, as may be seen HERE . This discussion (online and face-to-face) allows the members of the group to explore different books - effectively spreading the word that there ARE great books that may lie outside your preferred genre!
(By the way, our current book of discussion is The Remains of the Day by Kazuo Ishiguro. You may find the current discussion for this book HERE .)
Now, I'd like to ask for your help in choosing the book for October (seeing as the months prior to that already have a set book, as you may see HERE ). Our theme for that month would be relating to Women and Classics. The choices are as follows:
PRIDE AND PREJUDICE by Jane Austen

THE SECRET GARDEN by Frances Hodgson Burnett

LITTLE WOMEN by Louisa May Alcott

Right now, the set book for October is Pride and Prejudice . It's not too late, though! You can still change this by voting on our poll HERE . (We need around 180 members to VOTE in order to change this.)
Is there a book among the three that seems challenging or different from what you're reading right now? Maybe you've thought of reading one of these, but haven't actually pushed through with it? If so - VOTE for it, and maybe you'll end up reading it in October! Your voice counts! (Oh, and please note that the poll ends by July 7.)
"A single grain of rice can tip the scale. One man may be the difference between victory and defeat."
I sincerely hope to see your participation in this endeavor :) Thank you very much for reading this, and may you all have a great day!
Cheers!

Oh sure! Yay, do you think our hearts are ready?;)Let's start on the 9th then? :)

I can shoot an e-book your way if you're interested. Just message me. Hehehe!

I'm pretty sure Blackout will also shatter my heart, but I believe my heart is strong enough. HAHA MAY GANUN. Yes yes, the 9th is okay. :)

This weekend, I'll try to look for my copy!!!

Lynai: Not sure how many chapters it has (haha, I haven't even removed my copy from the plastic!) but maybe about 2-3 chapters a day? If I remember correctly from The Ask and the Answer, I expect it to be engrossing. :)

Tina: I will also read with you but please do not include my name in the thread kasi di ko alam kung gusto ko. Last time kasi, nagstart ako, di ko nagustuhan so pinilit ko na lang tapusin at parang feeling ko waste of time mag-post ng comments sa thread. Kakahiya tuloy kay Maria.

Will start the thread later when I get to work :)
Edited to Add:
KD! Ngayon ko lang nabasa post mo. Sure thing. :D Haha just drop by the thread anytime!

K.D. It will be fun to hear your thoughts about this book, including your dislike of it, if ever. :)

How about the other members? Next in line ko na kasi ito sa 1001 quest ko eh. After Ali Smith's
