Guys, most likely we'll start in the first week of May. You may download the files to get a feel of the materials. Thanks and we look forward to an enriching discussion :)
Thanks to all who expressed interest in The Great Ideas of Philosophy! :D The list of interested participants so far includes:1. Ycel
2. DC
3. Sarah
4. Billy
5. Kamille
6. Angus
7.
Kibitzers: Biena, Ella, Blue, Bennard, Tricia, JL
You don't need to be dedicated all the way (that is, from Book 1 to Book 50) for the discussion :) You may just check in with us from time to time; we'll be discussing a plethora of topics after all :D
As Ycel has mentioned, do try and listen to at least the first 2-3 books for the meantime. Hope to
We'll be starting the discussion by May 6, Monday. Thanks!

Euriz wrote: "Let's read... Sophie's World I'll be waiting for a buddy.. :D"Euriz! I'd actually like to read this side by side The Great Ideas of Philosophy! Might just consider it, if my brain doesn't get TOO fried :D
Euriz wrote: "Let's read... Sophie's World I'll be waiting for a buddy.. :D"I want too! But I will also be reading the The Great Ideas of Philosophy just like DC. If I can manage, I might buddy read with you too. :)
EURIZ and KAMILLE: Sophie's World is a great introductory course to Philo. Try reading that while waiting for the The Great Ideas of Philosophy session to start. You can catch up with us and butt in anytime :)
ALEXA: Each track is a 60-minute lecture, I think. We can do one track each day, or slice and dice the topic as long as we want and move on. Let's see how it goes for the Antiquity philosophers. The lectures follow the progression of the history of ideas, so it gets complex later on. The aim is not to rush through the course, but to discuss as thoroughly as we want :)
Ycel, DC: I have all the tracks on my player now, so I guess I won't be kibitzing anymore. Just let us know when we'll start. :)Rest: BTW, tuloy pa ba ang House of Leaves this May? Aaand, Infinite Jest is calling me. Gosh, parang patiwakal ang ginagawa ko, haha.
Angus: Might have to pass on House of Leaves because I don't have a copy yet, but I'm game for Infinite Jest.
BUDDY: If you're up for the HOL read this May, I'm game. Can't say for the others, though. :)After JS&MN, ako naman ang magpapahinga sa buddy reads. In the meantime. :)
Mae: If you are planning to get a copy of HOL, then perhaps we can wait for you? #pressuremylovesBuddy: After JS&MN, ako naman ang magpapahinga sa buddy reads. In the meantime. - You mean after HOL if it pushes through?
Benny: Sure, although wala pang date. Probably after HOL? Not immediately though, magbreak tayo for a couple of weeks siguro?
Buddy: After JS&MN, ako naman ang magpapahinga sa buddy reads. In the meantime. - You mean after HOL if it pushes through?Yes, yes. Sorry, ang gulo kong kausap. (view spoiler) If HOL pushes through, that will be my last buddy read for a while. If it doesn't, hanggang JS&MN muna ako. :)
Angus: No need to wait for me, my loves (haha!) If I manage to get a copy of HOL by the time you guys start, I'll join. But if not, you guys go ahead. :)And yay, Benny! Hihi, magpapaka-hipster ka din! I'm game whenever you guys decide. :)
Buddy: Siguro you decide the start date of HOL (dahil ikaw ang

Ycel: Oh all right! I was afraid I might not be able to catch up if one track a day, but I would love to follow your discussion :)DC and Ycel: Is the ebook a collection of transcripts from the lectures or is it something entirely different? (Sorry I haven't downloaded it yet, the Internet here is pretty busy)

Hey Blue, sure, you're welcome to our Taksyapo any time :D The ebook is somewhat like a guide, not necessarily a transcript. It has the major points of the audio-chapters :)
EDIT: I've just made the thread, so please head on over there if you have any more questions about the buddy read. Thanks! -> http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/1...

Hi, everyone!Just a heads-up: we will be archiving this thread by tomorrow, May 1. We will open a new Reading Buddies thread, combined with the rules so it's easier to reference and understand how Buddy Reading works. So if you posted/looked for a buddy to read in the past posts, you can post it again in the new thread (which will be up tonight or tomorrow), or you can create a new thread for it already. :)
Oh, and don't worry, we won't be deleting this. In case you feel like reminiscing, this thread will just be in the archives section. :)
Thanks!
