Wanted: Reading Buddies
Monique wrote: "To echo Buddy's invitation: come one, come all and join us sa House of Leaves buddy reading! :)Sis, eto ba ung kay Mark Danielewski?

Yay, Maria! Parang all-girls buddy read ito, so far. hehe
I am coming out of hiding to ask if I may join your Jonathan Strange buddy read? Was supposed to read it last January but I got distracted.Oh, and House of Leaves din kahit wala pa akong copy. Will be sure to get one by May.
*goes back into hiding*
PS. Angus, si Bennard din yata game sa Proust, if I remember correctly. :)
Eavesdropping(cheerleading?) on the Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell buddy read. I *might* even re-read it. It's a lovely book but have patience on the footnotes. It kind of interrupts the flow of the prose but it lends depth to the worldbuilding(complete with politics, social structure, history of magic, mythos, etc.). I. am. excited!
Hahaha!
Buddy, kelan ba natin to babasahin? :)
Mae, the more, the many-er! Yay! :)
Tina, can I join the Jonathan Strange buddy read too? I'm kind of intimidated pa sa kapal ng book so maybe reading it together with you guys would make it a bit less intimidating.:)

Sa May. I cannot suggest a reading plan for now because of the nature of the book.
I doubt meron (and besides, it's meant to be read in the form of a paper book).
Suggested set of equipment for reading: post-its (for notes and bookmarks), a small mirror, pen light (maybe?), magnifying glass (hmm).
Angus wrote: Suggested set of equipment for reading: post-its (for notes and bookmarks), a small mirror, pen light (maybe?), magnifying glass (hmm). Magnifying glass na lang ang wala ako. I have plenty of time to look for one.
As for the reading plan... Pwede namang wala di ba? Masyadong complicated yung book eh. Let's just set a particular time frame/period for reading it and then share notes pag meron tayong naisip? Parang yung Les Miz thread nyo lang. Para wala ring pressure.
Aaron Vincent wrote: "Wow. Ang dami niyo na. At puro kayo girls. Hahaha."
Nuninoooo.
Tina: I'm playing hide-and-seek? Heh, kidding. :P Just not able to go online much these days. And thanks!Monique: Oo nga eh. I think De Zoet was our last one. It was also my last buddy read in general. Tagal na! :)
Angus: Idagdag mo sa suggested set of equipment - stress ball and ibuprofen. :P
I have a dissecting kit that has a tiny one if you want, just in case the magnifying glass of your boss is too big! It doesn't have animal goo on it, promise =))
:P Haha.
Celina: Got it! Effective ang Buddy Read for thick books! :D
Tina wrote: "Si Aaron and JL lang mahilig sa doorstoppers. :P Haha."Either that or nabasa na nila. JL did not finished it. Beejay rated it 5 and placed it on his best-loved shelf. Aldrin rated it 4. Kwesi added it. Bennard placed it on his wishlist shelf. Patrick is too tamad to read a book this thick.
Yes, I checked the book page. Hahaha

Stalker. :P

A book-stalker, not a person-stalker(at least only this time). :P
Aaron Vincent wrote: "A book-stalker, not a person-stalker(at least only this time). :P "You have a point there. Haha.
Dapat lahat ng chunkster ko this year may buddy read para di ako tamarin. Pillars of the Earth ang 3Q! :D
Lurker here. Comment lang ako sa Pillars of the Earth. This is a great book made into an excellent film (a mini-series actually). Author Ken Follett made a cameo. Eddie Redmayne (aka Marius in Les Miz 2012 movie) played Jack Builder and he's great here. Yun lang.
Angus: hahaha benta!Aaron, Lynai: yayyyy. Pero matagal pa naman. :)
Monique: sa wakas babasahin ko na. :))
Hi Ycel! :)
Hi, Tina! Parang I want to re-read POTE tuloy. I really enjoyed it. Have fun! Don't be discouraged by the thickness. Ken Follett is a devil who loves details. But they're all good details essential to the story, unlike Victor Hugo, who had to tell every single detail about the sewers and the house in Rue Plumet and the sordid affairs of men not essential to Les Miz.

After LesMis, I feel like I can read anything thick na. :)) You can eavesdrop at the Buddy Reads thread by then, although yun nga, medyo matagal pa. After we finish JS&MN pa. :)
Speaking of which, I saw you that you added Jonathan Strange to your to-read shelf -- do you want to join us in April for the buddy read? :)
Ycel wrote: "Sure! Haven't done buddy read. Sounds like fun : )"Yay, I'll add you. Matagal pa naman, will open a thread siguro after The Book Thief discussion. :)
I found a practically new copy of PotE earlier that isn't a tie-in edition, and I regarded that as a sign so.. I'll join!!! :D (daming say)
Blue wrote: "I found a practically new copy of PotE earlier that isn't a tie-in edition, and I regarded that as a sign so.. I'll join!!! :D (daming say)"It's a sign~~~ Haha pero nearer to 3Q na ko mag-post about it. But yay!
Tricia wrote: "PotE! Sana may online sreening din nung series! haha"I saw the archive on the P&P online screening. Mukhang masaya nga yun.
