Introductions

I think most of us are all in the same boat and will be going on this historical journey together.

Hi Cialina and Dru! Welcome to the group. Glad you're both here.

I joined this group yesterday (thanks for the invite Emi) but I guess I should actually introduce myself. My name is Nicole, I'm 22 years old, and a senior nursing student (46 days to graduation, whoohoo!). Unfortunately school means I don't have as much time as I'd like to read, but I squeeze it in anyway :) I mostly read YA sci-fi/fantasy, but I love to branch out and try other genres as well so I'm really looking forward to getting lots of recommendations from this group!

Tehehe, I have the biggest grin on my face right now. I'm so happy to see that so many of the people that I invited actually joined. Thanks for joining, guys, and welcome! And a welcome to everyone else, as well! Even though the club is only a few days old, it's already hoppin'. :D

Haha I know I'm enjoying this group and the people in it!! :)
I am impressed too, Emi. Thanks for pimping us out to your friends list. <3

You gotta give her that respect. You know its hard out here fo' a pimp.
I feel like you need some sort of bad ass steampunk-like pimp ensemble.

It is 1:11AM and I'm Googling "steampunk pimp" ... this is my life with you guys in it. :p

Totally epic! And yes, I see the resemblance! They both have the sideswept bangs thing going on.

@Melissa: Ah! You joined! Awesome! Great to have you here, Melissa, and welcome to the group. Feel free to post book recommendations or join in on any of the bizarre conversations (like the one above). We're a fun group of peeps. ;)

That is soooo awesome!

@Ottilie: What's this 'talking' that you speak of? We have a pimp. ;D *points to mod title*

I'm Lindsey. I'm a 31-year-old wife and mom of great 9-year-old boy. I graduated with my master's in Sec. Ed. in December of 2010 and now I get to teach high school English! I love it! And I love how appropriate this group is to my job. Next month I'm teaching

I really just enjoy reading, and since graduating I have taken it as a job to fill my days with great books. I like pretty much anything as long as I get taken away into the world created (whether it's realistic or fantastical...).
Thank you Elle for inviting me. I am looking forward to reading with all of you.

Lindsey, I wish I could use work as an excuse for why I like to read as much as I do. That way my husband would stop telling me I'm way too attached to my Nook.

I love the spirit of Historical YA, and LEARNING about different time periods and momentous events WHILE READING for fun. It's a whole different kind of transportation. There may be inconsistencies and inaccuracies with the genre sometimes, but that doesn't make the genre any less valuable in my eyes. Ranks up there with Contemps, for me. :)

Anyways, I'm Caitlin. I'm a 20 year old English lit major. Of course I love to read, but I'm also a big outdoorsy person. I love to hike, water skii...go places. Hah. Oh, and I love museums. Even artsy museums. I went to the Getty the other day and fell in love with William Turner's paintings. Sigh.
Well, I'm excited to converse with everyone :)

I love Historical Fiction, and YA so this group seem like a good mix!

I'm Jeremy. I love historical fiction and YA, so this place seemed like a good place to check out. :)

I'm so thrilled to have found you all,I can hardly contain myself. But since I've sworn off the exclamation point, you'll just have to discern my excitement another way. Young adult historical fiction is my favorite genre, so much so, I'm currently slaving away at my first daring attempt-- Occupied Paris, 1942. What a challenge!
Eager to jump in and discuss some of my favorite books here. Thanks for being here.

The last great historical YA I read was the Body at the Tower by YS Lee. I haven't read a lot of historical YA in a while, but they are just sitting on my shelf waiting to be picked up!
