Need help finding book

Hi im going crazy right now because i can't remeber either author or the name of the book/books im looking for. I remember the story in small pieces and I'm pretty sure there is a sequel comming within a year.

The book is about a girl with some kind of power.
It starts with a wolf killing and later they find out that it was a werewolf. Because the girls father kills the wolf he has the right to skin they find out it is a werewolf. One of her brothers is infected from the killing with some others.
After that the girls aunts and uncles convince her mother that she needs teaching in the arts.

I dont remember much more then that the story is set about 16-17th century in USA(not sure about country)
