Rosa | 164 comments Fantastic! I was in, either way but I'm really happy I'll have people to comment with. This series was a great discovery.

Great! Count me in. :)

message 2403: by Loretta (new)

Loretta (loris65) | 1545 comments I just got an email that the next book of the month read was scheduled to start soon. I checked my settings. Go the account settings and select the email tab. On the right side of my screen is a section for Group Book reminders. You can put in the number of days you would like to be alerted to the start of a group read.

Loretta, that’s really cool! I didn’t realize that was an automatic setting. Thanks for letting us know!

I second that.

SamSpayedPI | 596 comments I nominate Darke Accused by Parker Avrile (since I just bought it for 99 cents on Amazon)(I don't think it's a sale; it looks like it's always 99 cents).

You folks here have raved so much about this series, I finally started it. Wow, what a ride! I have the first four books, and I happily have gone from the end of one to the beginning of the next. But then after about 50 pages, I have to take a break and read something less intense. Right now I'm in book 4, but I think I won't read further until the last one is published.

I am going to nominate The Prince and the Program since it was recently free or on sale (I can't remember) and several of us were interested in reading it I think.

Can I second The Friend even if I've already read it and don't plan to reread it in May?
I'd be interested in discussing it with all of you anyway, though. :)

Sure! As long as you plan to participate, that’s the important part. :-)

I'm going to nominate To See the Sun, which looks kind of interesting and is a bit different from what we've read recently.

message 2429: by Antonella (last edited Apr 11, 2019 07:17AM) (new)

Antonella | 11568 comments I second this. I remember that I wanted to buy it, and then promptly forgot it. Too many books!

ETA: If you buy it directly at Riptide it costs $3.99, less than on amazon:

YAY!!! I see it's also available on Hoopla (www.hoopladigital.com) so if you're library participates, you can read it for free! :-) I might actually do that with this one.

But someone could let Amazon know of the lower price elsewhere, though I don't know how fast they change the prices.

FYI, we're still taking nominations until tomorrow!

message 2433: by SamSpayedPI (new)

SamSpayedPI | 596 comments Is it too late to nominate Somewhere Over Lorain Road? I picked it up when I didn't have access to the book I was reading (power out, low charge, no Wi-Fi, couldn't download) and it has completely sucked me in. So poor Among the Living gets pushed aside once again.

And while To See the Sun does look really interesting, after the weirdness that was The Prince and the Program (I mean, seriously, can someone please explain the ending to me? And by "ending" I mean the last 25% of the book), I'm ready for some straightforward crime drama.

Warning, though: Somewhere Over Lorain Road is about a series of child disappearances/murders; certainly not a lighthearted romantic romp.

Jordan Lombard (jslombard) | 15348 comments Mod
It’s not too Late! I’m about to set up the poll actually.

Hold your thoughts on The Prince, because we haven’t even read it it. You’re a bit ahead of us.

Let's keep an eye out for sales for Lorain Road, because it's never been at a low enough price that I would buy it.

Yes!

Or ask your local library to purchase a copy, if you can.

I've already ordered this for the library, so I'm all set! And we already had the first one via Hoopla. I really need to borrow more books than I buy, especially the ebooks, so I have better knowledge of how those platforms work through personal experience. :-)

message 2439: by Teal (new)

Teal (howiebing) | 1943 comments Jordan wrote: "Or ask your local library to purchase a copy, if you can."

On the rare occasions when one of my libraries buys a book I requested, it takes months. So that's not a realistic option. I track it on eReaderIQ, though, so if there's a sale I'll know about it -- and let everyone else know too.

Jordan Lombard (jslombard) | 15348 comments Mod
Lol, thanks guys, but it’s not just me! My whole department rotates the purchase requests between us and for the most part, if the book is available from one of our distributors and it’s not too expensive, we buy it. Unless you request too many books of a topic only you are interested in, you want us to buy more copies of something we already own, you’re an author wanting us to buy your book (there’s a different process for that), or you want a textbook, which usually falls under the “too expensive” line.

Also, I suppose I am the one who regularly orders the LGBTQ romance ebooks. I just have to get better at making sure i buy the books this group reads, and ina timely manner. I’m so used to buying everything just for myself!

Just an FYI that today is the day we usually start taking nominations, but because we already have our next three books lined up, we’ll skip this for this month.

Hi all,

As per our BOM rules, and because the anthology Footsteps in the Dark is coming out at the end of May, that will be our June read! I’m super excited because there are so many great authors in this!

message 2444: by Teal (new)

Teal (howiebing) | 1943 comments I'm trying to plan ahead, and here's what I think is coming up:

June: Footsteps in the Dark
July: The Prince and the Program
August: To See the Sun
September: Somewhere Over Lorain Road

Is that right?

message 2445: by Jordan (new)

Jordan Lombard (jslombard) | 15348 comments Mod
Yes, you are correct! If you’re not using the app, you can also look at our bookshelves to see what’s coming next. I did update them with the new change.

I will also mention that Josh has several other books listed as releasing this year, in fact set for June and July. Yay! I don’t know if those dates are set in stone (I’m betting not), so we will be reading them whenever they release.

Once a book is listed on Amazon, it's set in stone--at least where Amazon is concerned. GULP.

No challenge with Mainly by Moonlight but there have been a lot of distractions with The Monuments Men Murders so far.

Lol, okay! I think I only checked here on GR just to see what was up real quick.

message 2450: by Teal (new)

Teal (howiebing) | 1943 comments I got an automatic reminder from GR today that the July BOM will be The Prince & The Program.

But The Monuments Men Murders is coming out in a couple of days -- wouldn't it be our July read instead?
