I will second both of those, but probably Dark Space a little bit more just because it's been on my TBR pile for EONS.

Here's the poll for our August read. It will stay up through next Monday. https://www.goodreads.com/poll/show/1...

LOL
LOL, I just want to let you guys know that every time I check the poll it's neck and neck. We were 1 and 1. Then we were 2 and 2. Now, I see we're 3 and 3. This could be a very interesting one. :-P

LOL, Right?!
LOL, Right?!

LOL. Can I vote again? Although, since I nominated both of them, I really don't care too much which wins.
What does happen when votes ends up in a tie, though? Do we have a sudden death overtime? Or is it moderator's choice?

That's a good question. We still have most of a week to see what the outcome is. Also, as of right now, one of the titles has actually pulled ahead of the other! Woot!
But, we could do one of several things if they do still tie in the end:
1.) revote
2.) read both in one month
3.) read one and then the other
4.) moderator's choice
... and that's probably about it. I personally am not in favor of the first one. Probably #3 would be the best choice.

In the past I already remarked on the fact that we tend to promptly forget books who don't win the poll, even though they are behind of one vote. Still, to read two books by Lisa Henry one month after the other seems a bit too much to me.
I would be in favour of digging out some of the old proposals, for ex. The Brothers Bishop

We'll see what happens with this one.
When we have a poll again, feel free to nominate anything that didn't win before if you're still interested in reading it.

OK, folks, our August read will be Dark Space!!! This was a clear winner by one vote!
That doesn't mean that we can't read her other book later on. Nominate it again if you're interested.

Now is the time to nominate books for September's read! We'll take nominations for one week and then I'll put a poll together. Remember, anything that gets nominated must get seconded by someone else before it can go on the poll. Happy nominating!

I second this.
I've downloaded so many free or almost free books lately that I had forgotten it...

I know we don't have instructions in an easy to find place, do we? I'll have to see if Josh can update her first post in this thread.
Once a month I send out a notice for nominations. We take them for about a week, though I think we can technically take them any time, really. We take one nomination per person, and that nomination has to be seconded by someone else to go on our poll. Then everyone has a week to vote on the next book we read based on what was seconded. I think for the most part we generally go for books with LGBTQ characters, and most of the time they are MM Romance, but they don't always have to be.

And to that, here's my nomination: Gyrfalcon. Another sci-fi, but one I've been meaning to read for ages! And it's got really good reviews!

I second that. I've been wanting to read it too. :)

If, like Jordan said, the book doesn't have to be m/m romance, then I'd like to second this one as well. It does have a gay main character, and sounds intriguing.
Well, we’ve read two BOM books recently that weren’t exactly MM. Plus most of our series challenge reads haven’t been MM either. Personally, I think we should mostly stick with that genre, but I don’t see why we can’t deviate from it on occasion.

lol. Maybe you can use dice? and numbers 4-6 can double for 1-3? So you have two chances to get a single number.

lol, well, right now we need a tie breaker! We have a 2 for 2 for 2 tie the last time I checked!

OK guys, what do you want to read for October?! Post your nominations here. One per person and it has to be seconded by someone else to go on the poll. You have until next week (Sunday night) to post and hopefully I'll get the poll up on Monday!

I like fantasy, in appropriate doses . . . which is apparently something less than four new universes in the space of two months.
I admit, I was surprised when we chose another Sci-Fi for next month. But, I'm reading a ton of mystery right now, so for me it's not a big deal.
Whatever I nominate won't be sci-fi or fantasy. I just have to see what I feel like reading next... and I'm leaning toward historical romance or something contemporary.

Have you read Patient Z? I really enjoyed it!

I'm going to nominate The Lawrence Browne Affair. A coworker recommended this and I have yet to read anything by this author! Apparently you don't need to read the first book to enjoy this one.
For our next BOM poll, we’ve only had one book nominated and seconded. If anyone wants to nominate or second anything else, you have until tomorrow night, when I’ll hopefully get the poll up.

I am 35% through and reeeeeeally ready to start talking about it. :) But I don't see a thread for it yet, so please point me in the right direction if there is one.

No, October is either the Cat Sebastian book or The Currowong's Call, right?
Sorry guys! I forgot to put up the thread and change out our currently reading section. I've been home on vacation and blissfully ignoring most of the world while reading fanfic. :-) Let me update the threads and what not asap.

Sounds like a lovely vacation, Jordan. :D It makes me hate to interrupt you!
Thanks for taking care of things here. I'm enjoying the book and look forward to discussing it.

Well, I'm back at work now, so I'm well interrupted. :-)
