Penny, your steampunk question is too complicated to answer for me. Just go with your judgment. Plus, you read so much, that I am sure within 3 months you'll be able to get through this challenge maybe 3 times:)

Totally up for it! I'm ready to complete my first challenge. Here's my to-read list:

1. Going Bovine by Libba Bray
2. A Tale of Two Pretties by Lisi Harrison (I'm pretty sure this was released about this time)
3.Girls in Pants: The Third Summer of the Sisterhood by Ann Brashares
4.Matched by Allie Condie (Is this a debut novel?)
5.The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
6.Angus, Thongs and Full-frontal Snogging by Louise Rennison
7.Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky
8.The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan
9. Rhymes With Witches by Lauren Myracle
10.The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, Heist Society, How to Ditch Your Fairy

Good luck to everyone!

Annalisa (goodreadsannalisa) Anthea wrote: "4.Matched by Allie Condie (Is this a debut novel?)"

Technically, no. She has six books published with a small Utah publisher, but it didn't affect her getting her current deal and her current publisher is calling it a debut novel since it is a debut on a national scale. I'd say you're good.

message 54: by Deborah (new)

Deborah So for future challenges (every book on mine is new for me), if we were planning on re-reading a book that fits, does it count? Or must all be new reads for us?

message 55: by Tatiana (new)

Tatiana (tatiana_g) I think re-reads are fine. You actually do read them, that is all that counts.

message 56: by y-bug (last edited May 13, 2011 01:13PM) (new)

y-bug | 2 comments 1 more book!! :)
I am so excited about this because all of the books I read were great!!
1. Please Ignore Vera Dietz 4 stars I really liked this because of the different points of view letting you understand the whole story.
2. We'll Always Have Summer 3 stars. I was totally sad by the way this ended, but it's kind of the only way that I can see that this could end. In the end it was a great book.
3. Ship Breaker
4. Warped 3 stars. It was a very awesome story with many diverse characters and it had a lot of adventure.
5. The Forest of Hands and Teeth 4 stars for this one. I really liked this because I had never read anything about like zombies or whatever. It was scary and awesome.
6. The Piper's Son 5 stars!!! I LOVE Melina Marchetta so I super loved this book! :)
7. Persepolis: The Story of a Childhood 3 stars. I really liked this book. It was my first graphic noverl and it was a really great story. I think I will read the ones that follow.
8. Dash & Lily's Book of Dares 3.5 Stars. I really liked this!!! It had very original and whitty dialogue. All of the characters were also really fun and interesting.
9. North of Beautiful 2.5 stars. I liked this book because it talks about how the surroundings of someone can affect you personally. I liked the characters because they were all very real.
10. Across the Universe 5 stars. I loved this book!! Space ships, love, and mystery all in one.
11. Guyaholic 3 Stars. I thought this book was very like sad and beautiful at the same time. It takes you through the change of the main character's life and how she deals with everything happening in her life.
12. Amy & Roger's Epic Detour 3 stars. I liked this book because it tells the story of someone who is moving on and accepting the present state of her life along with other characters who help her get there.

Holly | 2 comments Yah for challenges! Should be fun! Here's my list:

1. Ship Breaker
2. Afterlife - 3 Stars - The ending ruined this book for me, it's too "perfect" and unbelievable, otherwise it's an okay read.
3. Darkest Mercy - 3 Stars - Nice conclusion to series, but predicitable and not as good as earlier books in series
4. The Body Finder - 4 Stars - Not as much suspense as I'd expected, but still a good read
5. If I Stay - 3 Stars - Interesting premise, falls a little short of my expectations, but by the end I still felt connected to the main characters!
6. Stolen: A letter to my captor
7. Crank
8. Looking for Alaska
9. How I Live Now
10a. Uglies
10b. City of Fallen Angels - 5 stars - This is one of my favorite series and City of Fallen Angels did not disappoint! LOVE IT!!
10c. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - 5 stars - I love, love, love this book! Read it when it first came out, but it is so much better the second time around!

Kelly RAley (kraley) | 101 comments My personal rule was that it had to be a book I hadn't read before. I like exposing myself to new genres and authors. I know who my go to authors are already. I am starting my second challenge book today - When you Reach Me.

I rarely reread books and would rather read something new. But rereading is still reading.

message 64: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (maezyreads) Finished my first book.

Sloppy Firsts (Jessica Darling, #1) by Megan McCafferty

Loved Jessica's wit, humour, sarcasm and also remembered how I realllllly would not want to be back in highschool! I love another one of the characters but won't say who. ;)

Good read and I will definitely be reading the rest in the series later.

message 65: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (maezyreads) Thanks Tatiana and Eden!

message 69: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (maezyreads) My second book is now read.

Blood and Chocolate by Annette Curtis Klause

I liked it. I watched the movie that was loosely (and I mean looooosely) based on it not too long ago. I have to say I liked the book a lot more...especially the ending.

message 70: by Tatiana (new)

I had this as a possibility on my list. I'm so glad you liked it, I was a little unsure about trying it!

message 72: by Lori (new)

Lori (tyme2read) I told Michelle that War and Peace should be on her list to make it a little more challenging for her,lol

message 73: by Sakura (new)

Sakura Windsong (sakurawindsong) | 2 comments I am tracking this challenge on my blog at http://sandrathenookworm.blogspot.com and I also reposted the whole thing complete with extra links there too!

I just read After, by Amy Efaw for #5 in this challenge. More details are my blog. (^_^)

message 74: by Deborah (new)

Deborah I finished my graphic novelFruits Basket, Volume 1 Fruits Basket, Volume 1 by Natsuki Takaya and loved it. The only graphic novels I have read have been part of a series and the author chose to do a back story in graphic format.
Sweet, humorous, cute with a family turning into the Chinese Zodiac animals plus a cat; and the girl falling into their midst. I will likely work my way through all 23 volumes to see how it all pans out.

message 75: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (maezyreads) Lori wrote: "I told Michelle that War and Peace should be on her list to make it a little more challenging for her, lol"

Oh hush now. *blushing*

message 76: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (maezyreads) Book #3 read. =)

Old Magic by Marianne Curley

I liked it. Not sure if I had a dream similar or if I've seen a movie like it but at one point it sounded familiar. hmmm Odd. Anyways, it was good.

message 77: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (maezyreads) Book #4 Read:

So do we report in this thread when we are done reading a book Tatiana?

message 81: by Tatiana (new)

Tatiana (tatiana_g) Angie wrote: "So do we report in this thread when we are done reading a book Tatiana?"

Yes. All progress should be reported on this thread. If you want to, of course.

message 82: by [deleted user] (new)

This is just a suggestion but maybe we could make another thread where we could say what the good books are and report how we are doing. Just to make it easier, but yeah... it's your choice.

message 83: by [deleted user] (new)

Do we have to go in order by the rules or can we skip around?

message 84: by Tatiana (new)

Tatiana (tatiana_g) Hailey wrote: "Do we have to go in order by the rules or can we skip around?"

You don't have to read the books in order.

message 85: by Lori (new)

Lori (tyme2read) I finished my first book for the challenge, Chloe Doe I gave it 3 stars. It was a slow book but it did have a feel good ending.

Michelle (maezyreads) Book #5 read.

Looking for Alaska by John Green

What a great book. I usually don't read these types of books (more an urban fantasy reader) but was surprised. It made me laugh, cry, get angry and think. =)

Jen Halligan (bookandlatte) | 13 comments Perfect Chemistry (Perfect Chemistry, #1) by Simone Elkeles I finished this book in one sitting... I couldn't put it down and stayed up until 4am to finish. I haven't done that in years! Loved it.

message 95: by Kelly (new)

Kelly RAley (kraley) | 101 comments I just finished the Newbery winner for 2010, When You Reach Me by Rebecca Stead. I gave it four stars. It was a cool time travel book, which I don't think I've read much in YA lit recently. It did have a bunch of holes that I'd love to discuss, but I don't want to give any spoilers. (See my review if you want the spoiler version). I loved the writing style and the characters. I'd recommend this book.
