R2 TEAM THREAD: Team #2 Scratch & Sniff
Blood Cross. I really like the Beast aspect of Jane. It's 1st person POV, but from two people in the same body. Cool. ;)
Thanks, Dana! Funny, I'm actually annoyed with Beast's POV. Maybe I just don't like being stuck in the mind of a cat for a few pages.
I have only read the first one completely though. After a few books, it may get old. Hopefully it won't drag on, but instead show itself just enough to stay relevant and then give up space to other topics. Most likely too much to ask, but I will anyway. :)
I felt that way in the 1st book, too. After the 1st, both Jane & Beast develop more personality, Jane feels a teensy bit softer, and Beast is actually kinda funny, in a gruff, dead pan sorta way. But I do remember wondering during the 1st book if I would warm up to these characters, and I really like both of them now. And if I remember correctly, you get the most "beast time" in the 1st book. It was a bit too much, imho.
I agree, LLL. Beast IS growing on me a little but not much. I'm a little "meh" about reading Mercy Blade because I am SO not happy with Jane's love interest. I feel like she settled.
Definitely read Mercy Blade, it was really good. I do believe I might have even given it 5 stars. Definitely four. Re: book 2 >> (view spoiler)ETA: I checked, and I gave #1 three stars, #2 four stars, and #3 five stars. What will I do when #4 comes out? Lol.
Ya'll are crackin' me up with the Jane spoilers! I'm anxious to read Mercy Blade even more hearing that Laura rated it 5★! Wow! Must be good! ;)LOL @ Kristen & Lethal! I'm amazed my hubby hasn't kicked me to the curb yet with all my GR group talk. Thankfully though, he helped me create Book Shelf Bingo, so he's happy to hear how that's going. Otherwise, I just get the glazed, not-again stare most of the time. LOL!

LOL! That's cold, LLL. BTW, talking about yourself in the 3rd person? Totally not crazy. Talking to yourself & responding & having dreams where you have sex with yourself? Maybe.
LethalLovely~I'm Breaking Out. Last Chance to Lose wrote: "BTW, talking about yourself in the 3rd person? Totally not crazy. Talking to yourself & responding & having dreams where you have sex with yourself? Maybe."I know. Talking about yourself in the 3rd person just means you're really important.
And that other thing? Hmmm....you're right. That's a maybe.
Yippee. The game book I need to read for PBS this weekend is on the paranormal shelf. Yay. I will using The Dead Travel Fast by Deanna Raybourn for paranormal. I will also try to get the shifters book in the weekend. I started an audiobook of a book on the shifters shelf because I just have too many game books to read for paperbackswap.
My Paranormal book is
!YAY!!!
I've never read any of Nahlini Singh's books. I have all of them on my shelves, but have never read them.
Yeah, I know. I don't understand it either.
Yay for our new shelf! It's a big one too, meaning I can use just about any book for it. YAY!I was planning on starting Magic Strikes today so I'll use that one for my Paranormal shelf. Good luck everyone! Have fun!

I've had a crazy week with one school project per day, and I'm not kidding. Haven't been able to read almost anything, sadly, but I'm going to catch up during the weekend and next week (which will be way calmer), I promise! So sorry team!
I think I'll be reading
for the next shelf though. :)

Gotcha, Shannon! Kenyon's "Dark-Hunter" series is awesomesauce IMO.Finished my book for Paranormal.
Magic Strikes ★★★★★ 3/20/11
This series keeps getting better & better. I didn't enjoy Magic Bites until halfway to the end (my review for it for Bookshelf Bingo Round 1 is here). Since then, I'm starting to enjoy not only the protagonist & supporting characters, but the world building too. In this book, something terrible happens to Derek (Katy's wolfboy sidekick) which causes Katy & her friends to join the "Midnight Games." Let the kickassness & awesomesauce begin! I spent most of yesterday & all of this morning glued to this book because I just had to know what would happen next. And I was not disappointed. Katy stepped up her game & Curran proved he was more than just an assbucket Lion King wannabe. People I initially thought were weak & boring showed that they could hold their own & bring their own brand of whoop-ass to the table. Bring on Magic Bleeds!
Great review, Rachel. Short & to the point. I'm sorry to hear it didn't work out as well as you wanted it to. Hopefully your questions will be answered in The Hidden Goddess.
Sooooo, I should rate the book after I read it, hmmmm? Sorry team! My parents came to town and stayed at my house this week...need I say more? :)Anyway, here is my Blood Cross Review for good or bad. Hope everyone had a great weekend!
For the Paranormal shelf this week, I will read Mindhealer
. I like this series which means I should probably check out Saintcrow's other stuff. One more on the list!
Yes, Dana. The three R's: Read, rate, review.Awesome review, BTW! I don't know what it is about this series. It almost reaches greatness but falls short. Something is mission IMO but I have no idea what it is.
And great pick for Paranormal! I haven't read that series but I've read-& enjoyed-two others by Saintcrow. I recently bought the first book in her "Dante Valentine" series & I'm excited to read it! Enjoy!
Kimberly wrote: "I finished Slave to Sensation. 3 stars.Dirty Dancer lovers beware."
ROFL! Why you hating on Dirty Dancing like that, Kimberly? I thought you were cool! *tear* I agree, the cover is very cheesy. Maybe that's why I've been putting it off for so long. Or maybe I'm afraid it won't be as amazing as Singh's "Guild Hunter" series. Maybe I'll read it & break out in dance & song, screaming "NOBODY PUTS BABY IN THE CORNER!"
ETA: Remember everyone, if I missed you or made a mistake on your picks, please let me know. I'm trying to do my best but sometimes I overlook things.
I finished the book at 3 this morning and went straight to bed. This morning while I was trying to write my review, I just stared at the book and that was one of the first things that popped out at me!It's not as bad as what I would do with Moning's Fever series. Every time I saw the books, I started singing the Dance Fever theme song.
Ah Kimberly! It is the font! I have had something nagging at the back of my mind since I first laid eyes on one of her books. It's the Dirty Dancing font, LMAO! I LOVE this movie, but yeah, the 80's produced some really vivid, chees-i-li-cious, mental images that stick with you. Every time I watch that movie I can feel my scratchy sweater dress and smell Aqua Net. That font is gonna do that to me from now on too. I'm doomed! :)
Check me out LL! I actually remembered my 2nd and 3rd R's today! ;)Here is my Mindhealer Review for the paranormal shelf read.
@ Mary: I'm glad you're enjoying TDTF. I've heard lots of good things about Deanna Raybourn.@ Dana: LOL! Way to go! We'll be getting our next stamps in no time with a great team like ours. ☺
I read Silent In the Grave when it first came out and liked it a lot. I don't know why I haven't read her again. Too many books I guess. Well I made really good progress on my shifters and paranormal books last night. I hope to have both finished by Friday.
Where is everyone? Furiously reading? I'm 50 pages from finishing Dead but I'm so freakin' tired. I'm hoping I can finish it during American Idol. I like to read during all the annoying crap they put in to stretch the show twice as long as it needs to be. I've still got quite a bit left for my shifters shelf book though. But hopefully I can get it done by the time the next shelf is called. I'll be alone in the office tomorrow AM and can listen to it there until my Mom/Boss comes in around lunch time.
Well I'm closer to finishing Dark Peril than I thought. I jsut went to load the rest of hte tracks from the MP3 disc to Itunes and there was only 1 left. Cool. I feel guilty for being a week behind.
Mary wrote: "I like to read during all the annoying crap they put in to stretch the show twice as long as it needs to be. "LOL! I hear ya! I fast forward thru (what feels like) 60% of the show.
Well my plan worked. I read during the crap and commercials and finished Dead. So here's my review. http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/... for the parnormal shelf. It's not really a parnormal BTW. But it was a good gothic style mystery.
I will hopefully finish my shifters book tomorrow.

Plus, I stepped on a giant piece of glass yesterday & had to go to the hospital to get stitches & a tetanus shot. My foot is useless right now.
Way to go finishing your Paranormal read! And good luck with your Shifters book! And thanks for letting us know about Team 3. All we need is Rebecca's book & we'll have our "Free Space" stamp!

I've read all 3 books that are out so far and they're all fluffy, imho. I enjoy ..."
LOL! Thanks, LLL! Yes, I did have a "WTF?" moment at the end. I too need to be in the mood for fluffy & it only works with certain authors (ex: Katie MacAlister). I can tell that this series won't blow my mind but it'll be nice for the times that I'm looking for something less cerebral.
@ Kristin: LOL! None of my family cares either. They're like "Oh, you're the team captain of a book bingo game? How nice...*snore*"
@ Dana: Thank you! LOL! Nice haul! You'll be glutting yourself on Ward, eh? So you're changing your book Shifter book to a Jane Yellowrock one? Cool! Like Steph, I've been meaning to read Mercy Blade for awhile. Let us know which one it is, please. =)
