There is a love triangle, but it's not the focus of the books.

My favorite Dystopian/Fantasy trilogy was Chaos Walking.

Nothing short of what you did Wendy. I went to our local Borders that is closing. I was shocked at the line to the registers. It ran from the front all the way to the back by the now closed cafe. (sniff, sniff love my caramel mocha). I was even more surprised because the discounts really weren't that deep. The place looked ransacked. It actually brought tears to my eyes. But I will go back of course.

Sometimes i wonder if Twilight's not the rip off. Lol. I think some of the books mentioned were published before Twilight. Somehow Twilight got all the film industry attention.

yes, even my youngest commented on how "it had such a good feeling here".
Going back tomorrow Ottilie. See if that BDB 6 book boxed set is still there! Tee hee.

Thanks!
I've actually heard that Twilight is almost the same story as The Vampire Diaries, which was released in the 90's. I want to read them just because of that! (Oh, and yeah, I like the tv series). I really hate seeing SO obvious similarities, even though I guess no idea is completely original. But it just makes the author look bad to me. "Oh, Stephenie Meyer made a shitload of money on that vampire book of hers, let's publish something similar and see what happens". Like they're writing for the wrong reason.. you know?

I love them, but logically I know that it's because they hold sentimental value for me. When I separate myself from that I know that the writing is sub-par (in the Vamp Diaries, better in Secret Circle). The brothers Stephan and Damon are the best part, especially Damon, but Elena is one of those whiny simpering selfish girls I mentioned before. I've not read the newer ones in the series that just came out. People I've talked to who loved the originals all hate the new ones, I'm pretty sure I will too. I'll stick to the show, which I also love. The show is VERY different from what happens in the book. The only thing that is remotely the same is some of the characters.
The funny thing is that they are a lot like Twilight. I read Twilight and thought it was funny how many similarities there were to Vamp Diaries. I remember thinking that she must have read them when she was young. Then I loaned my friend Vamp Diaries after she read Twilight and she didn't like them because she thought the author had too much like Twilight. I had to point out that the Vamp Diaries came out over a decade ago, so Stephanie was the copycat not Smith, lol. It was interesting.

As far as Twilight VS Vamp Diaries VS Vamp Academy, well to each his own on those. I do agree the Vamp Diaries series is alot of fun. Damon being too hot for his own good! But it does seem that after Twilight, stories of Vamps and werewolves were coming out of the woodwork!

You are so very right.

I say we're 'book crazies'~ or 'literary junkies'

Last time I was in London, the first thing I did was to run out and track down a huge book store. I can't believe how much money I spent! Coffee in one hand, tons of books in the other. Wish I could do that every day. But I've got no reason to complain because I got three books in the mail today. BLISS!!!

Hahaha, hi Wendy, Leea and Ottilie! The first step is admitting it :))
