Pyro skipped to the nearest street vendor, and they ordered the almighty sweet- besides chocolate. Pyro got some generic fruity popsicle. Sam went with the classic drumstick, because he was cool like that.

"Just wander, then," Jacob decided.
The two meandered along the streets, past the White House gates and up to the Lincoln Memorial, in total silence.

"Smell remarkably like cherry blossoms...." Sam murmured thoughfully.

When they reached the memorial, the bubbly happiness quickly ebbed, replaced by a solemn mood. Both Pyro and Sam actually stopped being... amusing, and frowed as they thoughtfully read the carved wall.

The couple finally paused in front of the White House.
"I wonder just how much they know about what's going on out here," Savita murmured.
Jacob glanced down at her, one shoulder lifting in a shrug. "Maybe they know everything, but maybe they don't know anything."

Pyro frowned. "People... they are cruel."

Sam cocked his head. "People who are shown cruelty learn cruelty. People who are shown knowledge and peace display intelligence and peace."

Jacob nodded slightly, watching her.

Pyro sighed. "People have a right to choose, not have lives forced onto them."

Sam frowned. "Pyro, would you rather be a normal kid, with normal parents, with normal friends, in a normal house, in a normal school? Or would you rather know better than the deception."

Pyro was silent for a long moment. "It's always somewhere in everyone's wishes to be who everyone else excels to be. But I wouldn't change my life for the world."

Sam finished his drumstick and tossed the wrapper into the trash can several seconds before Pyro finished her popsicle and threw the wooden stick into the same can. "I win!"

Jacob absently stroked her shoulder, leaning his head resting his chin on top of her head. They stood in silence for a long moment.

Pyro grabbed Sam's hand and once again led him through the crowd. Sam didn't object, but simply let her lead.

He simply nodded, leading her away from the gates and down the streets, heading for the grassy area.
