How does this buddy read thing work?

message 615: by Cathy (new)

Cathy Galloway | 700 comments Also, I read In the Blood. I enjoyed the second even more that the first. All the background was built and knowing some of the characters helped avoid confusion when lots of things were going on at once. Of course now, I have to read the next one since there were a lot of things left hanging.

You have to agree with the person you are buddy reading when to start the book, you start it around the same time and discuss it. ;)

Hey Erin, just finished Jewels of the Sun by Nora Roberts and gave it 3 stars... it was an interesting read and I enjoyed the ending quite a bit since I have a soft spot for happy endings.
I also got Graceling and will try to read it soon, I've heard it's a great book!

Awww Kate... so happy you liked it!
oh just thinking about Rhage's book makes me go all dreamy like... isn't he a sweetheart? *sighs*

And now you get to read Z's story... ooooh let me tell you, you're in for a treat!!
Rhage might be my No. 1 brother but Z's a close second, a very very close one.

A little warning, this books are highly addictive, I'm not kidding, there's a huge bunch of people waiting for the next fix... just 9 days left for Lover Unleashed.

Uhm, maybe xD. It would honestly depend. It has a lot of profanity, but it's a bit like a coming of age story and it has a nice ending so it is possible to get through. (And surprisingly is really good.) I wouldn't normally read it though, and it comes down to your humor level and if your just into "that." If you read an excerpt you can get the feel of it pretty quickly.

I just did a read of this trilogy - it constantly amazes me that NR's skill in writing means that what I would normally think of as one big irish cliche she manages to make a charming (if sentimental) tale.

Shelley | 141 comments O.K. I finished my buddy read Fallen. It started out alot darker than I thought it would be. It was really good until about 3/4's of the way through, when all of a sudden they are in love and she hardly even knows him. I guess I need a little more interaction before the madly in love phase. Over all it was a pretty good book and I will probably check out the next in the series.

message 630: by Cassie (new)

Cassie (casswish) I finished Awakening by Cate Tiernan today. This was #5 in Sweep series. I read 1-4 in high school, and was reluctant to read this with such a gap between (it's been 7 years since I graduated), but it all quickly came flooding back to me in the first couple chapters, and I'm glad! I'm going to keep reading this series and I'm not going to wait so long between reads!

Hi Lethal Lovely - I finished Archangel's Consort a couple of days ago. I didn't think it would arrive in time, as I've been on the waiting list at the library for ages!

I just finished One Foot in the Grave and I absolutely loved it! I gave it the five stars the first would've gotten had it had a happier ending. I don't usually mind the characters not having a HEA in a series, I just didn't like it happening to Bones. This one definitely ended on a better note and won't leave me going to bed rewriting the ending. Thank you for the fantastic recommendation!!!

Heather (jjgrl55) So, I finished my book, like, a week ago, just haven't had time to post yet.

I read Vittorio: The Vampire by Anne Rice, as recommended to me by Cynthia. I've never read an Anne Rice novel before, but was excited to dip my toes into the classic vampire genre (because I just don't equate Twilight with classic vampire novels).
Anyway, the book was a bit slow to pick up, and I wasn't entirely convinced of Vittorio's "love" for Ursula. Seemed more like lust to me. But, I was still intrigued by the descriptions of the Court of the Ruby Grail and really wanted to know how he became a vampire.

Overall, I liked it, though wasn't super psyched about it- I guess it's just not quite my cup of tea. But I'm glad I tried something new!
