Next book - a "Laser"?

Might be early, but it seems like the next book (after Wolfe) could be either a "sword" or a "laser" (if we are even bothering trying to alternate anymore). While I tend to prefer "sword", I think a good, true "laser" is in order. And, by that, I mean a good ol' space action novel, fast-paced and non-epic.

And, the fact that this type of novel happens to be exactly what I am looking for has NOTHING to do with it! :0) (see my other thread . . .).

If doing a laser, we should read Deathstalker by Simon R. Green, even though I have not read it, but hear its good.
