7) Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka

I was challenged to read this book by a friend who is a masters program Lit student. It was, while interesting, an incredibly dry, slightly disturbing read. I wouldn't suggest it for light reading....

I hope you and your son are enjoying the Dealing With Dragons books! I read them all in elementary school and even bought the set a couple of years ago to re-read as an adult cause I loved them so much!

I read those books dozens of times when I was young. I'm thoroughly enjoying sharing that experience with my son! He is loving them as much as I did (and do still) :)

11) Haunted - Chuck Palanuik

If you liked The Fountainhead you should read Atlas Shrugged. I love both but I think Altas Shrugged is even better.

Actually I've read it. I find Ayn Rand's philosophy unrealistic. The only one I kind of liked was Anthem, because it was the only one she wrote that wasn't horribly depressing. Thank you though for the suggestion.

Oh I love Anthem. And I get what you mean by unrealistic, I just love the passion of the characters.

I hate that the passion of the characters is destroyed by the antipathy of the antagonist. I don't like that she has her "ideal individualist" is beat down by "the man" who is socialistic to the extreme.
