So Breaking Dawn showed us a lot more about the mutt. Personally, I like him now that he is out of the picture romantically in Bella's life. So what are your thoughts on Jacob now that you've read breaking dawn?

message 2: by [deleted user] (new)

i agree with you my percesptive about him has changed now.

message 3: by PandaRanda (new)

PandaRanda Count me in too. I no longer hold that irrational, unadulterated loathing for Jacob Black that I was arrested with after reading Eclipse. Which is just awesome. :D I still like Edward the best, of course. xD

message 4: by Gunjari (new)

Gunjari (irajnug) idk i've always liked jake. it's better now that he's imprinted on renesmee so that he's not broken over bella anymore though.
nessie's so cute! lol

message 5: by iPukeRainbows (new)

iPukeRainbows (plutothebeagle) | 15 comments Renesmee IS cute!!! Reading in Jake's point of weiw changed how i felt about him too. At first I was SOO mad when he imprinted on Nessie, but now he seems to have changed back to the personality he had before he changed to wolf.

Yay! BD had a very happy ending!

message 6: by [deleted user] (new)

I wasnt angry
just disgusted!
and a bit confused
i mean
leave it to stephenie meyer to make a werewolf imprint on a half vampire half human!
i couldnt help thinking...
if jacob and nessie have a child...
what would it be?
lol

message 7: by Aoutlaw00 (new)

Aoutlaw00 | 11 comments It was easy...too easy. Bella gets her happy ending, she gets to keep both Edward and Jacob.

It's creepy though...Imprinting on a baby... what is it with these books and 'Old men with young Women'??? It's starting to freak me out...

message 8: by [deleted user] (new)

well
its not like he loves nessie in the way that edward loves bella.. yet
for now hes just like a big brother... or whatever nessie needs

message 9: by Ranata (new)

Ranata Clark (thatchicknata) But Jacob will eventually love Renesme like a lover so I guess that's what's so strange and disgusting about it. I thought it was strange when Quil imprinted on the 2 year old but I mean, it's always better to be friends before lovers, right? She's growing up at a fantastic speed so eventually it would go there.

I can see how he'd be a big brother figure at first but I think that's what's weirding people out. I'd never sleep with one my brother's friends because they are like big bros to me. It just seems odd.

message 10: by [deleted user] (new)

i just dont understand wether nessie loves jacob or not...
i mean did she imprint on jacob too?
i never really got how that worked

message 11: by LeiAnn (new)

LeiAnn | 4 comments Mariana, remember in the other books, SM explained that the person being imprinted upon has a choice in the matter. But why wouldn't you accept the person who imprinted on you when you know they'll be perfect for you in every way? So Nessie doesn't imprint on Jacob, but she accepts him as "hers".

message 12: by [deleted user] (new)

sorry
hee hee
thanks for explaining it to me
im kinda sad there isnt another book to explain how their relationship worked out
and if bella/edward would be upset when they got closer
thinkin about it...
SM left a lot of things unexplained at the end of BD
:(

message 13: by Janepage (new)

Janepage I loved Breaking Dawn and I like Jacob a lot more than before.

message 14: by Gunjari (new)

Gunjari (irajnug) it is still kinda strange. who else thinks it goes against the laws of nature for jake to imprint on nessie- even if she is only HALF vampire. i mean, doesn't she kinda stink to him? just a little?

message 15: by Ranata (new)

Ranata Clark (thatchicknata) Nessie is a child. How would you know if she accepts him or not? And if you think about it, she could grow up and not want him like that. She might just want him to be her best friend or big brother without being together in a romantic way. Just because he feels something deeper doesn't necessarily mean she would.

That would be awesome if it happened in real life cuz then we wouldn't have to go thru the duds to get to our perfect mate.

message 16: by Ranata (new)

Ranata Clark (thatchicknata) Gunjari, I think it goes against everything Jacob has said to have imprinted on a half vampire when werewolves and vamps are mortal enemies. This is what makes the book completely unbelieveable. He had such a strong hatred for Edward but he falls for her half vamp baby daughter? That's absurd.

LOL @ doesn't she stink to him. I'm sure he does and I'm sure she's a sickly sweet smelling person to him as well.

message 17: by [deleted user] (new)

whatever ne one thinks
at least it contributed to the happy ending right?
now bella doesnt have to worry about jacob being jealous or what not

message 18: by Ranata (new)

Ranata Clark (thatchicknata) The happy ending was very unrelalistic so I disagree there.

message 19: by Gunjari (new)

Gunjari (irajnug) i liked it.

message 20: by Jantine (new)

Jantine | 1 comments Hi all, I finished BD last night. I started Twilight wednesday night last week, which means I read the whole saga in 1 week. I am still dazed and confused by the whole ordeal, and my husband thinks I am autistic all of a sudden. I just stopped talking to him for a week. :)

I would like to tell you my idea about the whole Jacob imprinting in Renesmee thing. In the book I found several moments where Bella seemed to notice the bond between Jacob and Nessie strengthening from Nessie's point of view. It left me with the feeling that Renesmee knows full well what's going on and wholehartedly agrees with it as well. It's only a matter of time.

I think it is quite an interesting plot development; it sure takes care of the Jacob - Bella problem, without leaving Jacob crushed. It makes the bond between the vampires and the shape-shifters final. That may be the reason too, you know, Jacob imprints on Nessie because it ends al hostility between the two groups forever, and it saves the Cullen family in the first place.
I am a bit dissapointed by the fact that I didn't see it coming. I saw just about all other major events coming, but not this one :)

message 21: by Janepage (new)

Janepage I like Jantine's perspective on the end. And I didn't see any thing coming! Although I try not to so it will be a surprise.

Allie (pearlrose95) | 104 comments People had already told me what happened.... I bugged them until they did, lol.

message 23: by Delaners (new)

Delaners | 2 comments I was shocked when I first realized Jacob imprinted on Renesmee, but I knew it had to happen sometime or another.

message 24: by The Book Posh (last edited Aug 22, 2008 03:11PM) (new)

The Book Posh I still don't like Jacob. I felt he had too much "page time" in Breaking Dawn, it really annoyed me. He might as well sleep in the bed with Edward and Bella! The whole imprinting on Renesmee was ridiculous to me. It was just too weird...

message 25: by The Book Posh (new)

The Book Posh I agree!! Sickening...

message 26: by Kelly (new)

Kelly As weird as it was, it was purposeful. It explained why Bella and Jacob just couldn't give up on each other and that fate/destiny has a course.

message 27: by Ranata (new)

Ranata Clark (thatchicknata) I think the Jacob imprinting on Renesme was ridiculous and it was just an easy way to make him and Bella both happy. She didn't lose anything and that in itself is ridiculous because we expected it.

I digress. I'm glad others were able to enjoy it but I just refuse to even finish it considering all I've read and been told about it. I know I won't like the rest considering Renesme is a big chunk of it and I don't agree with her even existing but again, that's just me, glad others enjoyed it.

message 28: by Allie (new)

Allie (pearlrose95) | 104 comments I don't agree at all, but your free to think what you do. I liked the fact that he imprinted on her, because everyone was happy! lol i think it was a good idea, and i didn't want bella and jake to b sad the rest of their lives thinking what could have or should have been (depending on how you think of it)

message 29: by Rachel (last edited Aug 27, 2008 09:40AM) (new)

Rachel (rachelumana33) | 15 comments Allie don't you think it is a little weird that your best friend who is 16 imprinted on your like "two year old" daughter. It was just not right but it did make the book more interesting.

i think jacob is sickening annd obnotctious is the beginning but then he imprinted on Renesmee (ewww). when there was a book for Jacob i thought i'll just skip it but then when I did i realized that I had to read "Jacob's Book" (stupid). Who cares about werewolves and care about vampires!!!!!!! Jeez Edward just kick his butt already. Imprinting on Renesmee was just sick, gross, sicker, grosser, and sickening.

message 30: by Lucy (new)

Lucy Williams (knickitywickity) I disagree strongly with your assessment of Jacob's imprinting on Renesmee as being "sick, gross, sicker, grosser, and sickening".
Imprinting is not romantic in any way shape or form. At this point in time, Jacob will be looking after Nessie in a way that only a parent would feel compelled to.
Now, I know that Jacob is quite the annoying little Bella-taker-advantager-ofer, but I think that he is getting a very bad rap for the whole imprinting thing.
It has been nothing but beneficial!
A) it stops the tension and awkwardness of Bella being with Edward
B) Makes sure that if Edward and Bella are... predisposed, that someone will always be able to watch over Renesmee
and C) It protects Nessie from anything that The Pack might wish to do to her

message 31: by Allie (new)

Allie (pearlrose95) | 104 comments I def. agree

message 32: by Kaiya (new)

Kaiya | 4 comments I totally agree with you Lucy. It's not like the guys have any choice who they imprint on. And I think we all should have been prepared for that, because Stephanie did give us fair warning of no age limit to imprinting with Quil. But there's nothing sick about imprinting anyway, because it's not a physical thing. It's true and absolute love, in any state of being you know, not lust.

message 33: by [deleted user] (new)

just think
rosalie had been sitting some other way so that jacob couldnt see nessie
he would have killed her!
i would like nessie to be alive please
:)

message 34: by Janepage (new)

Janepage I didn't see anything wrong with him imprinting on Renesmee.

message 35: by Allie (new)

Allie (pearlrose95) | 104 comments me either.

message 36: by Spiffy π (new)

Spiffy π | 1 comments I agree with janepage. in the other books i liked edward much much better. Now jacob doesn't get on my nerves as much but sometimes he does. also it was kinda kewl to see the world in his perspective

message 37: by Lucy (new)

Lucy Williams (knickitywickity) I really really REALLY hope she decides to do midnight sun...

message 38: by Ursula (new)

Ursula (ucpage) | 2 comments I still liked Edward in BD, but there wasn't enough of him. too much Jacob. But, I kind of see how why she told the part about Renesme's birth through jacob instead of Bella. What I missed in BD is the Edward we all grew to love, the hopeless romantic who had the BEST lines and his personality wasn't allowed to shine through as much. He seemed like a 2nd tier character. I would have loved to read mroe dialogue between him and Bella discussing things, especially at the end. BD was still an awesome book though :)

message 39: by Allie (new)

Allie (pearlrose95) | 104 comments i agree

message 40: by Desirae (new)

Desirae (desiraelovesrob) | 37 comments I Agree Too.

message 41: by PandaRanda (new)

PandaRanda Ah definitely, it was all circled around Bella and a bit of Jacob, so Edward gets kicked out of the spotlight. =(

message 42: by Desirae (new)

Desirae (desiraelovesrob) | 37 comments Yeah, but it was still great.
I Love all the books.
I like cried when they were all over.

message 43: by Codi (new)

Codi I hated how the author wet from bella's point of view to jacob's and then back to bella's view. she should of kept it at bella's story so that you could understand the WHOLE story

message 44: by PandaRanda (new)

PandaRanda I suppose, but it made sense to change to Jacob's point of view. It would've been really boring in Bella's point of view. She was stuck inside the Cullen's house all the time, there wouldn't be much to read about. And in Jacob's point of view at least you got to understand his disposition a little better, and the inner workings of wolf packs, then later you get to find out what its like to be a vampire. It's a pretty sweet deal if you ask me. Not that you did.

message 45: by Jen (new)

Jen (jencroup) I agree with PandaRanda. It needed to be from Jacob's point of view. It also made me like Jacob more (which was not hard since I hated him) He was there for her and was more of the Jacob from before he changed into a shapeshifter. You got to see what he gave up to help Bella even though it bugs me that once the baby was out of Bella he did not care if she dies. It really did show that he did not love Bella, but there was something else that was pulling them together.

message 46: by Rachel (new)

Rachel (rachelumana33) | 15 comments awesome point Panda Panda
really awesome

message 47: by Allie (new)

Allie (pearlrose95) | 104 comments I agree with you both. i hated him 2, now like him a tad bit better

message 48: by Hannah (new)

Hannah (hannah7299) I agree, Jen. I never liked Jacob & am glad he had his part in BD. It changed my mind about him. Otherwise, I never would have liked him. I thought it was strange how he could go from loving Bella so much to letting go of his feelings for her so easily, but I guess the imprinting had that effect on him.

message 49: by PandaRanda (last edited Sep 24, 2008 10:22PM) (new)

PandaRanda And perhaps the him loving her part was also partially due to the influence of Renesmee-to-be pulling him towards Bella and making it seem as if Bella is his centre of the universe. Such an influence is hard to resist and easily can be mistaken for the wrong kind of love.

message 50: by Sarah (last edited Sep 29, 2008 06:19PM) (new)

Sarah | 72 comments So do you guys think that if Renesmee and Jacob had a kid that it would be a vampire/human/were-wolf, well obviously it would but would that mean that there kid would hate the smell of themselves?

Because Vamps hate the smell of WW and vise- versa, or would the human part even it all out?

And would it drink blood?

And would it change into a WW?

Stephenie needs to explain in a manule or somthing
