Stormi (StormReads) (bmreviewsohmy) Well I know I never got a chance to read it. :( I am going to try for this month, but I have some books that must be read this month so it depends on if I can fit it in.

Courtney K (cklueh) I finished that one on January 31st and it took me almost two weeks to finish. Looking back at my reading progress, I remember strongly disliking the double-standard for dating in Calla's society. The males can date and have sex, but the females can't even kiss anyone until they are mated.

The pace at the end really picked up, so I was left liking the book (4 stars). The ending leaves off with a huge cliffhanger, though.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I liked the book, but didn't like the guy that the author was pushing Calla to be with. Shay was very whiny, needy and was always butting into conversations and interrupting like it wasn't rude.

The more traditional, slightly possessive (but moreso from being an alpha wolf, not because he was clingy) guy named Ren was much more appealing.

The start was sort of disjointed for me. There was an info dump of random things that didn't all make sense until you got further into the book.

It also threw me off that the shifting was magic based, more like a fantasy story instead of PNR/UF. In a PNR, the shifting would usually be a natural bodily progression, one that would require you to remove clothes unless you wanted them to get ruined. The first time Calla shifted from wolf to human in front of Shay, I was waiting for him to be flipping out over her being naked, but it didn't happen. That would have been a good time to explain the shifting was magic based, but the explanation didn't come right that second, so I remember feeling a bit weirded out.

Courtney K (cklueh) I thought she was naked the first time she shifted. It didn't say until later that she was clothed during the change. It is an advantage to writers who stick to traditional fantasy elements for plot development, because those of us who are fans already know the logistics. However, when you depart from that tradition, there is a lot of explaining to do which makes for disjointed progression.

I thought she was naked too. That would've been hilarious if she actually had been. XD I was reading going, "is she naked? If so, she's VERY comfortable in front of this dude."

Cambria (cambria409) | 264 comments hahaha. I thought she was naked too. I think you girls are right about those of us who this kind of stuff a lot and how usually (naturally) they would be naked. Although it was convenient that she never had to figure out a way to hide her nakedness. lol.
I liked Ren a lot better than Shay. I rooted for him through the whole book. I heart Ren! ;)
I wasn't as huge a fan of shay but byt he end of the book i at least liked him although I am still pro Ren. Can wait til the next one comes out!
